Hobbes Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 The Cafe Corner pimped to the max (of gravity, that is): Image can be found on LUGNET. My back hurts just thinking about walking up all those stairs... Quote
Khorne Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Nobody can argue about the fact how impressive this is, because it's sure is amazing. BUt I don't really like it anymore with all those floors stacked upon eachother :-/ . Quote

BUt I don't really like it anymore with all those floors stacked upon eachother :-/ . I thought the same. It's impressive and it was just a matter of time until someone tried to stack up as many as possible, but as a MOC it's not really "stunning". I just thought the touch with King Kong climbing up its side was funny ;-) Quote
oo7 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I'll bet that that's not King Kong but CountBlockula's Donkey Kong. Quote
CopMike Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Nice! I could take that if someone threw it at me X-D! It Quote
Hobbes Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 I'll bet that that's not King Kong but CountBlockula's Donkey Kong. From LUGNET: Before you ask: There's King Kong Baby climbing on the wall... :-P Actually it mostly my legs that usually hurts going up a lot of stairs ;-) - like the 30 floors at the Stair Race in Adelaide 2 weeks ago :-D. You don't know my back ;-) Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Unfortunately I cannot get one floor nevermind 18. Is the cafe corner available in normal shops or only over the net? My local shops have all the new sets except this. Maybe they dont think it'd be a seller? Quote

It's an exculsive which would mean it's only available at S@H or LEGO Brand stores, but unfortunately none of the later exist in Ireland. Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I'd hate to think of the hours/days it took to put this together. I have mixed views of the overall look. Quote
Rayden Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 It would probably look good if you added 2 or 3 floors to the original, but this is a little over the top. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Thats cool... and EXTREMELY BIG!!! I knew someone could do it. X-D What if it falls over? -ZotS Quote
oo7 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 What if it falls over? A large crashing noise occurs, plastic will be scattered evrywere, and there will be a room full of disgruntled AFOLs. Quote
blueandwhite Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 YIKES!!! The base alone is worth $600 US. Assuming that this was built using nothing but Cafe Corners rather than bricklink or factory orders, then the entire thing must be worth over $10,000! That's insane. Somebody is positively rich here. Hobbes Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 Somebody is positively rich here. It's from Brickfest PDX, so I guess it was build with sets from more than one person, probably a club... Quote

Well, unless I'm mistaken, it's made out of 64 sets. (16 floors, 4 sets per floor) Each set is Quote
flanker Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Looks nice but as the others say, it gets 'boring', everytime the same color. At least they could've used different colours. When they would've done that, it would look a lot better. And yes, it was expensive as far I know. And for all the money they'd put into the 18 store Caf Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 It looks very impressive, but I agree, 18 floors looks stupid. I would have left it at 3 or 4, as demonstrated on the back of the box. At any rate, a hell of a lot of money went into that. Quote
alex54 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I'll bet that that's not King Kong but CountBlockula's Donkey Kong. This Donkey Kong looks very great! Not like that Caf Quote
Ruben Elshof Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 18 floors it's to big. 1 or 2 is enough not 18. |-/ Quote
Brick Miner Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 thanks for posting this hobbes... as it was something i was interested to see, being the guy who started the "why doesn't LEGO make skyscraper sets" ;-) i think the main reason this looks so awkward is that a tower this size doesn't posses the same architecture of a building 3-4 stories tall (the intended height/design of the CC). consequently, the result is something too unnatural to the eye. however, i think LEGO is on the right track to some serious skyscraper possibilities. - BrickMiner Quote
