Subix Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 For my WIP diorama I needed birds. And this is what I end up with: Ups...a turtle. Quote
badgogo Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 They look pretty cool!!! You can build a small zoo with so many birds. Brick on!! Quote
Sandy Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Incredible! I'm totally in love with the first bird (a stork or a crane?), but all the others are excellent as well and really look the part. Wonderful use of parts in an inventive way, that's a true talent! Quote
SlimShady Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Very nice collection of beautiful birds. Quote
autorazr Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 dude, some of the most creative uses of minifg parts that i've seen. Quote
Wout Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 These are awesome! I like the first one with two beards as wings very much. Quote
Gabe Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 These are some really sweet designs and variations! Like others, i am particularly enamoured of the first one with the beards used as wings. Btw, is that last one supposed to be a bird too, or perhaps a tortoise?? Quote
Subix Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Thank you all for comments. I am new to EB (not to Lego) and it feels good posting noticable creations. Quote
Yooha Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I have a feeling that these are based on real bird species since some of them have distinctive colors. Can you add their names? Quote
Ardelon Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Very inventive! But what's the body/rump part for picture number 10? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Very inventive! But what's the body/rump part for picture number 10? Looks like the Turban piece in white. These are awesome! I was taken most with the pom-pom birds. They remind me of the bird with hair in its eyes from Jungle Book! Quote
Subix Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Yes, on picture 10 body is white turban. On picture 6 tail is made of old skeleton arm. On pisture 3 there are two beards, Big on top and smal dwarf on the back bottom. On samo places I used round plate 1x1 with hole for bar. Originaly used as eyes in Save a sheep game. Other parts are clerly visible I think. Edited November 7, 2013 by Subix Quote
L@go Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 This is brilliant. I think you can expect other people's versions of these to pop up in MOCs and displays - and that's something to be proud of! I know I'll be looking here for inspiration when I need birds for a diorama :) Quote
Redhead1982 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Subix, you have a really nice collection of birds. The most impressive I find the use of various ''non-bird'' pieces, that you used to create birds' body parts. I like the bird with chima wings, however, the other species are even more spectacular considering their small size and diversity in parts usage. And as L@go said, they're very inspirational! Good job! Quote
Rook Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I don't really like the ones with the square heads but the rest, even the turtle, are excellent. Quote
Chocolatecake Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Amazing and very creative. You have done a really good job, most of the birds reminds me of something I have seen (in real life or at pictures). Quote
Kivi Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 That's a pretty amazing flock of birds, especially with all the parts which I would never have even imagined to use in such a way. Well done! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Those are probably the best brick-built birds ever! I love the addition of minifigure parts! Keep up the good work! :-) Quote
nobody Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 These are fanastic. I love when you can produce so much with so few pieces. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Nice selection of birds, especially the first couple, those beards make good wings and even the pompom makes a good colorful head! Like the turtle at the end as well! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Awesome collection of birds there! My favourite is number 3 and I love the tortoise too hehe! Great work and happy building Quote
B Rick Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Those are extremely cool! Surprisingly creative. At least to me. :) Quote
prateek Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Very nice! I really like the turkey variants I remember making a duck similar to these a few years ago. It's really cool how so many small things can be made by seemingly simple pieces. Quote
