I think, there are a lot of details of different kinds in these sets which are important for car building.

I'm looking to build some cars and possibly some of Sheepo's creations. Was wondering what woudl be good sets to get for parts?

I you have a particular model in mind, you might want to consider bricklinking the parts you need, instead of buying sets. It all depends on your budget and what you want to build. Check out rebrickable too.

Bricklink changed my life. Make sure you set aside some cash.

you are not even joking. Spent about 20mins there and I think I might have lost my wallet. I used go to ebay and found that a lot of the stuff I bought there was almost double what I could have paid on bricklink.

I have to agree with Thirdwigg!

If it weren't for Bricklink, this forum would have had far less great MOCs!

And we would all have a lot more money. They don't call it Cracklink for nothing.

The parts i have needed for mocs (pf and panels) i find much cheaper on ebay compared to bricklink. Might not be that way with smaller parts but i really don't think bricklink is that cheap, but i might not have found the correct stores.

one annoyance about bricklink is that you can't make the results default to US or whatever country you like. I can't pragmatically by things over seas when the shipping costs are so high.

Actually, there is a way to do that, at least partway. If you're looking for things in your Wanted list(s), you can go to the Wanted tab and the Settings sub-tab to set what countries to look in.

BL's interface is a mess, though, with settings pages scattered everywhere and terrible search options. I hope the new owner will really revamp things.

I always buy sets for my parts, as I am growing my collection, collecting sets rather than specific parts means I have parts for future MOC's, I must admit 9398 is a good source of motors panels springs etc and 42006 for LA's and treads :classic:

I find it easier to stick with wanted list setting. It can be set to limit by countries you buy from. Mine is set to USA and I go oversea only for hard to find part or if I need unusual quantity that isn't available in USA.

Also Brickficiency can be set to limit to a list of countries using the 2 letters code: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2 so you could try using that to scan your wanted list by your home country and a few nearby neighboring countries that doesn't charge too much on shipping.

If you can find one at a decent price, 8258 is a very good assortment of parts. It has only one XL motor though, but a good mix of liftarms, gears, linear actuators, and various connectors.

For treads and red curved panels (and many Technic elements), can't beat Bionicle Skopio. Should be able to find one at a decent price. For example:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item20da6a14d1 in US or http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e821e3614 in EU

Admins: Not sure if posting eBay links is ok. If not, please remove.
