Hor Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Oops, what is this: http://www.legolanddiscoverycentre.com/eng/index.htm Never heard before... Quote
Holodoc Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I have found some very promising pictures: Berlin "Dom" (capital church) The Reichstag consists of 190.000 bricks! Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate Sony-Center (Potsdamer Platz) And all these beauties are made of Lego! *wub* 4-5 million bricks alltogether. 8- Quote
simonwillems Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Wow! That looks great, I'm off to Berlin :-) the advantages of having a Legoland indoors is that the colours of the models will stay intact much longer and that there will be no closings during the winter. Quote
Hobbes Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 The constuctors were only allowed to use "normal" bricks, nothing was made of new invented stones. But only for the buildings. The landscape clearly is non-LEGO. Funny thing I just noticed: I'm not really impressed by those buildings. It sure was hell of a job to build them and they look very realistic, but to me it's not really LEGO anymore. I was never really into model building like this and lately I find myself more and more drawn to the old-style sets and MOCs in 7777 style, mixed with a bit of new stuff, like this. Sorry for the little OT ;-) the advantages of having a Legoland indoors is that the colours of the models will stay intact much longer and that there will be no closings during the winter. And that they reserve themselves the right to compliment you out of there after 2 hours if there's too many visitors... Quote
Holodoc Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 ... mixed with a bit of new stuff, like this. ... Holy... ... cow! 8- Quote
Holodoc Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Some people over from 1000steine, Lugnet and brickfest were able to have a closer look at it ;-): Here Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 This looks promising, but am I right in thinking that those buildings are minifig scale rather than miniland scale? The first set of pictures look like they have minifigs rather than miniland figures. Quote

Hobbes Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 What are miniland figurines? Brickbuilt people like you find in the "Minilands" at all the LEGOLAND parks like here. Quote
Holodoc Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Miniland figures (ca. 10 studs high) *click* Minifigs (ca. 5 studs high) *click* ... well, you know minifigs... X-D Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Thats cool... I really like the miniland! Looks very beutifully done. -ZotS Quote
Robiwan Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I like it that they build it in minifig scale. *y* But I hate the high entrance fee of around EUR 14 for araund second houres of delay. :-( Thats no comparison opposite the entrance fee in the "real" Legoland where I can stay the hole day. Quote
casewindu Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 mixed with a bit of new stuff, like this. Sorry for the little OT ;-) (cough cough) my city is better than that! ;-) (cough in my dreams cough) Quote
HJR-Holland Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I've visited Berlin this weekend, and was able to visit the park. You can find pictures here. It wasn't as epic as I had hoped, and there's still a LOT of empty space which can be filled with bricks. Also, they had themes based on LEGO series no longer made (Johnny Thunder anyone?) and the waiting line was l-o-n-g; yet, Berlin in bricks looked great, the 4D movie was nice, the 1000 steine display promising for coming months / years, and the employees were all cheerful. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 It's nice, but the Berlin diorama only takes up one side of a room? The rest is all stuff like Adventurers, animals, BIG people, and cinemas? Seems like a wasted opportunity to make an inner city LEGOLAND. Quote
Ickelpete Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 There was an article in the Sunday newspaper that stated Merlin Entertainment plan to open up to 30 of these discovery centres in Europe and North America but there was no indication of time scales Quote
Mosana Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I've been to this. What's been said before is all true, but I really need to emphasize how wonderful the Berlin buildings are. The lighting which simulates day and night is an excellent touch, and the Greek Temple really makes me wish I had more map tiles. Quote
diddada Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Anyone who went to LDC in Duisburg recently? How about exclusive sets, is it still nothing there on the shelves? Quote
Holodoc Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Anyone who went to LDC in Duisburg recently? How about exclusive sets, is it still nothing there on the shelves? Hello diddada and welcome to Eurobricks! Digging up a 4 year old topic may not have been a good way to introduce yourself... Especially when it is about LLDC Berlin and you are asking about the LLDC Duisburg. But to answer your question: No, I haven't been to Duisburg lately. But I have been there 2010. The palette on the shelves is rather limited. So I guess you won't get Exclusives there (Pet Shop or MAERSK train for example). Maybe you want to phone them? ++49-(0) 203- 570 888 0 Quote

Do you know about the prices there at that time compared to other shops? We are thinking of buying the year card for the 10 percent discount if Maersk is available ofcours and maybe pet shop, emporium.... Quote

I wouldn't bet they speak English well, but I should fit your needs. The prices are to 99% S@H prices, don't expect to shoot a bargain there. IF they have the exclusives (see post above). Quote

Lego Otaku Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 If you have a VIP card, use it. Almost works like a discount card excet you apply saving to the next purchase. $5 credit per $100 spent can add up a lot if you buy often. I've had a lifetime total of $110 earned credit since I applied for it last year May (1 year anniversary since coming out of the dark age BTW) Quote
