Porty Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but looking over the product sheets again, you have to buy the expansion kit to get those special red track clips, the new 3x11 panels, unimog portal axle stuff, and much more we were looking forward to. DLuders Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) @ Porty: That's not a problem for folks like Paul Boratko and others who use "Lego Direct" (orders from Lego Customer Service). Once we know what the Lego Element IDs are (not the Bricklink part numbers), The Lego Group will sell their excess parts to anybody with a credit card. The last time I made a "Lego Direct" order, I could get up to 10 different line items. Edited January 31, 2013 by DLuders Quote

Except for some reason I cannot see the price. Quote
DLuders Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 @ Porty: The Lego Customer Service person will tell you the price of the parts when you place your telephone order. The prices are not inexpensive, but often you can get an item in great quantities. They only sell parts from sets produced in the last 5 years (so, no "Power Puller" tires or wheels are available anymore). When they "sell out", that's it. Quote

Like David said, this won't be a problem. They will be available on Bricklink or at Lego Direct. However, I am wondering if they will ever make these in a different color. If not, black or grey would have been a better choice. Quote
mike4slund Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I haven't even opened up the NXT 2.0 set that I've had for about 12 months (curse those building backlogs)! I'm also really looking forward to these new sets. I guess the fact that they're apparently backwards compatible with the NXT stuff means that at least my current set won't go to waste. ill help you open your set!! haha. Quote
Ramacco Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 (edited) Cool model build by Lee. Edited February 1, 2013 by Ramacco Quote
Jim Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 OMG! Do it Lee, do it.....provide us with building instructions Quote
DLuders Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 On Flickr, 1brick posted a photo of that EVan robot (which uses the upcoming Lego Mindstorms EV3 brick as its "heart"): Quote
Ramacco Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 It can't walk. The problem is that he can't keep it balanced. Still an awesome model I think. Quote
Jim Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Thank you David, for posting this! It really is an awesome model. Too bad it can't walk, but nonetheless, I would love to build this model. Legolijntje, you are good at reverse engineering models, right?! Quote
kieran Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Looks amazing, can only imagine the cost if it were to become a TLG set. Quote

GRKAstronomer Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 My experience was that the original Mindstorms RIS set remained at the same price although it was discounted once in awhile by Amazon storefronts. Yeah, they keep going up in price wig each generation and the parts count always seems to keep dropping as well ... Yet we all dig into those deep pockets of ours to supplement our fun habits. My EV3 is ordered. Now it will be torture until Fall. Quote
Paul202 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Hey guys, about the Lego Direct order, how do you get parts? I remember something like that I did for studded Legos, however you had to get the parts by lying and saying that they were replacement parts, which I didn't feel comfortable doing. Do you just call them and they sell to you freely. Quote
Scorpion Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, about the Lego Direct order, how do you get parts? I remember something like that I did for studded Legos, however you had to get the parts by lying and saying that they were replacement parts, which I didn't feel comfortable doing. Do you just call them and they sell to you freely. In a word, yes. First off, get the LEGO part numbers, the ones you get in the parts inventory section of the building manual. Then, just call LEGO Direct, select the option to make an order, then the option of ordering loose parts. You'll talk to an operator, give him the list of parts [there's a limit of 15 (or is it 12?) part types and 200 parts of each type], your credit card info, address and you'll get your parts in the mail in one of those bubbly bags, which is always a plus. Hope it helped, Scorpion P.S.: You can't get parts from licensed sets, though. (I'm referring to parts exclusive to licensed sets, like SW helmets and such, not any part in a licensed set.) I tried and they just refer you to Bricklink. Edited February 8, 2013 by Scorpion Quote
DraikNova Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 How I wish they made those super-sized `showoff` models into actual sets. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 That dino/dragon is awesome. I wish it was an actual set. Quote
Jim Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) Lee strikes again. Awesome. http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream Totally missed your post. Damn....that's ridiculously awesome! Releasing this a an actual set is almost certainly never going to happen, but what if Lee would provide building instructions for his models. That's probably also never going to happen Edited February 20, 2013 by Gekke Ted Quote

Why doesn't Lee do something like that which you could build from only 10 core sets, and 20 expansion kits? I have decided that this year I will be buying the education edition of EV3 with software, 1 expansion kit, 1 IR Sensor, 1 IR Beacon, and 1 more Medium motor to fill that Port D... All for a grand total of $615... Quote
