VKTechnic Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 For my second BrickCon project, I'm building a BAC Mono: With about a week to go this is my current state: And here's an earlier WIP: The model is driven by 2 M-Motors and steered with return-to-center steering with another M-Motor. Will be powered by a rechargeable battery. As always, any and all feedback is appreciated. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) I think you need to try adding some flex axles around the edges,I think it would look better. Edited September 28, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Junpei Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 How about a brick-built body? Judging by the fact that it uses m-motors instead of L or XL, I assume the goal is not speed, so maybe if you switched to L the increased weight wouldn't make a difference. I think flex axles would look a little bit weird. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Nice work so far, hard shapes to replicate. I also think you should add some flex axles.... Quote
piterx Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 i agree with other guys! i'd do it with connectors and flexible axles....it would come out lighter too :) Quote
Lipko Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Can we have a closer look at the rear suspension? Quote
VKTechnic Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 To all the comments on flex axles: I have 0 flex axles in yellow, also very few in black. So flex axles aren't going to be used. Can we have a closer look at the rear suspension? I'll post one later today, after I finish with my goals for today. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Looks good! I'm bummed that I'm going to miss BrickCon this year. Quote
Lakop Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 That's looking good so far. The only negative thing I can say is the grey wheel hubs take something away from it. Can you look at using other wheels, if you have any of course. Maybe the wheels from 42000. H Quote
VKTechnic Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Calling it quits...Front axle is too wide (don't know how I miscalculated that) and there are some gearing issues. With four more building days until BrickCon, I'm hoping to build a walker and some sort of medium-sized fast car. Quote
timslegos Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 You are really going to scrap it now? I t looks great as is! tim Quote
JM1971 Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Have a rest, sometimes a solution comes to mind, I bet a lot of people give up and then make a come back, your moc is looking good. Quote
Jim Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 You are really going to scrap it now? I t looks great as is! tim I second that! Don't do it. Quote
Rishab N Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I agree. I really like this project. I think you shouldn't do it Quote
skriblez Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Keep going, this moc is very nice looking Quote
VKTechnic Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Thanks for the motivation guys, I'm gonna try and get a lot of work done on the Mono today. Not giving up yet! Quote
Junpei Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 How does the u-joint not get pulled out if the rear suspension pivot is so far out? Something to do with those 9L links? Quote
VKTechnic Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 How does the u-joint not get pulled out if the rear suspension pivot is so far out? Something to do with those 9L links? The suspension doesn't move far at all, and the CV joint accounts for any axle pulling. Quote
VKTechnic Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Progress! Solved the gearing issues, widened the rear axle, and getting some solid work on the body. With only 3 days left, I think I should be able to finish this. Quote
Rishab N Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Nice job! I think you should make the driver's headrest much higher to make it look more realistic Quote
VKTechnic Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Nice job! I think you should make the driver's headrest much higher to make it look more realistic Definitely on my to-do list Quote
Jim Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 You should be happy with this MOC! I like it a lot. Well done. Indeed, adjust the headrest and maybe PF lights? Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Some flex axles would improve the looks, but as you say, yellow ones are hard to find. Had to order four of them from Finland the other day for Jurgen's backhoe. Black ones are pretty common though (except the 19L ones). Quote
