aiori Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Hi, I'm collecting the CMF and found incidentally the "Retractable Pen"s on Ebay. There are three pens in form of overseized CMF: Clown, Wrestler and Singer. I ordered one and placed it on my showcase above all other CMF and it looks great. But these pens are not promoted by LEGO anywhere, so there is probably more and as a completionist I want to know and get EVERYTHING I would like to start a list with things around CMF, like pens, lights, posters, sticker, whatever. What did you find? Quote
CM4Sci Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Those are cool, but then there's this Doctor one. It's different than the one we got in the Hospital a year or two ago. Future CMF? -Sci Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I don't know, seems Lego have decided that only women are good for doctors/nurses ... Quote
Blakstone Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Itaria, I cannot tell if you are trying to prove the ridiculousness of the posters expressing concern about the representation of women in LEGO and the world in general by adopting an extreme counter point of view or if you really believe it. However, you are wrong at least about the medical workers. It is true that the one doctor and nurse in the CMF line are female. But the latest hospital set, Helicopter Rescue, has one male doctor, one male fire rescue helicopter pilot, and one female paramedic. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 This has no bearing to the topic at hand, so I'll be brief, but in my field, women easily outnumbered men in each graduating class. I think a lot of it is the times allowing more women to enter those fields (for some reason not a lot were valued for their minds in earlier generations) and LEGO is finally getting around to adding more females in their sets and whatnot. As far as those pens go, I've never seen them before. I don't think I'd ever use them, but I did have a little LEGO figure flashlight that I misplaced, but it was fun to play with for a while. I may have to look for a new one of some Licensed character sometime. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Itaria, I cannot tell if you are trying to prove the ridiculousness of the posters expressing concern about the representation of women in LEGO and the world in general by adopting an extreme counter point of view or if you really believe it. However, you are wrong at least about the medical workers. It is true that the one doctor and nurse in the CMF line are female. But the latest hospital set, Helicopter Rescue, has one male doctor, one male fire rescue helicopter pilot, and one female paramedic. I would have shifted the medic and the paramedic genders, that would have fit better. I am not pointing out that the people concerned about the representation of women in Lego are ridicolous, I just believe they are creating a problem that doesn't exist. Again, already told elsewhere, if I recall my toys from childhood were: Lego, Masters of the Universe, Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters. In over thirty years of life I never heard someone complaining that all characters from He-Man were male (except Sorceress), that 4 out of 4 of the Ghostbusters and same for the Ninja Turtles. Seems nowadays that scripts for comics or movies need always girls, gays, black people, asiatic people... as if their lack would result in sexism or racism. This IS already sexist and racist, filling gaps with black/asian/females/gay because we want to look nice and giving equal opportunities. The world will be really swept off racist and sexist scum when people would not even BOTHER if a lego sets has all males, all females, if a movie portraits the 4 hero all gays, all straight, all women, all men, all asian, all caucasic, all black, all indians... I mean... when people will stop bothering it will mean that we grew as a race and we made a step over. As long as people keep counting how many males, females, gays, straights, lesbians, blacks, asians, mexicans (...) are in a certain set of characters, we will stay in the middle age. Just my 2p. aiori Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 interisting points, worth a discussion... elsewhere now for something completely different, I continue with the original topic: 5002483 Minifigure Poster Series 1-10 What else is out there? ... As far as those pens go, I've never seen them before. I don't think I'd ever use them, but I did have a little LEGO figure flashlight that I misplaced, but it was fun to play with for a while. I may have to look for a new one of some Licensed character sometime. I don't use the pen either. But the figure is a very nice display, right next to the original sized clown. Does the flashlight represent a CMF? Quote
Blakstone Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 The flashlights I found do not represent a CMF. The regular LEGO minifigures lack too much detail for me. I prefer the licensed ones or the CMFs. Quote
