Prince Manic Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Right now I'm adding in something to the Lone Ranger Steam locomotive I like it but I was thinking how to build one from the technic cross beams here's what I was hoping it will work - this is great to add in a more detail so it has this when it's moving and nice to have. I've used the two bricks from the rocks and made a simple rod to test on how it will work and it does so is this how to make a rod like this picture below? I'm also making a BTTF Part 3 Delorean Railroad version but not sure if the Rim I'm using which is a narrow rim will even work on the tracks that was prodvided with the Lone Ranger train I'll buy these bricks I would need from Lego's Pick a Brick and before I order the rims I'm wondering this can fit or not if not....I cannot make it at all and use the Lone Ranger Train to Push this along the track. jonwil Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 If you read the instructions for this set http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=10194-1 you should be able to see how they did the rods in that set and use that as a guide for how you could do them on the Lone Ranger train. Quote

jimmynick Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 You could use a half-thick technic liftarm with the short stubby pins as a rod, or you could look at zephyr1934's custom rods. They're not a purist solution, but they look great! Quote
Duq Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Hey Prince Magic it would help if you could make your sentences a little shorter because with those sentences that go on for two or three lines and never stop and jump all over the place I don't really understand what you're trying to say so it's kinda hard to help because I don't understand the problem. this one user modded a hogwarts locomotive to have two 90 degree and a 180 degree in the middle wheel Can you explain this or give a link to the video? I don't get why the solution from the Emerald Night (10194) won't work for this train. Quote

Plus the narrow rim on my little railroad version of thr BTTF 3 Deloeran but not sure if it will even fit on the rails like a train wheel Edited September 4, 2013 by Prince Manic Quote

They're not a purist solution, but they look great! Funny you should mention my custom rods and the Lone Ranger train. I just got a copy of the set and finished building it yesterday. Aside from the goofy pilot truck (very functional but awkward looking), it is a pretty good looking locomotive. I've worked up instructions for converting the loco to one with working rods. I need to take a couple of photos and then I will be posting the instructions shortly thereafter. Keep an eye out for that new thread. Quote
Prince Manic Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Well Lego shows the Drivers Wheel when I Input the number but it says Sold out O_o like you just made them for the set and say it's out of stock? Now what happens if I broke one of the wheel who let's say I chipped the Flanged one? Funny you should mention my custom rods and the Lone Ranger train. That will make 100% more detailed when I change some things for my Locomotive, I could say the narrow Rims are not Railroad worthy so no BTTF 3 Deloeran scene Quote
