My apologies if this has been answered, but I have been doing some research to try to find out the set with the most pieces. I have the Tower Bridge set and figured at 4287 pieces that might be it, but found out that the Taj Mahal has 5922 pieces. I checked the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, Death Star, new Sydney Opera House, etc...but could not find any set that had more than the Taj Mahal.

Does anyone know which set has the most pieces in it? Is it the Taj?

Thanks!

^ That's an old page, not up to date.

Brickset is very good though, for doing what are called 'advanced queries'. http://www.brickset.com/search/advanced/edit/

Go to that page, select 'number of pieces' in the first drop-down box, select 'greater than', and then type a number (say, 2000). Then click 'and' to bring up another row, select 'category', 'does not equal', 'collection' (this removes collections of sets from the result). Now on the 'order by' section, choose 'number of pieces', and 'descending'.

Now click 'Generate SQL', and then click 'execute query' lower down. This will open up a new tab, with a list of all sets above 2000 pieces, sorted by piece count. You'll see, for example, that the new Sydney Opera House is the 10th biggest LEGO set.

Play around with the query builder some more, it's really quite powerful. You can use it to do a lot of things, including listing all sets currently available by piece count. (If you're interested, Tower Bridge is #1, Death Star is #2, SSD is #3 and Sydney Opera House is #4).

I think Fuzzy had the answer I wanted, all time biggest sets, and I have to believe that is somewhat accurate as other than Sydney, has anything come out to crack that top 10...wish I could afford some of those sets, will get the Opera House at least, but most of the rest are on the secondary market commanding big coin. Would love to have the Taj Mahal, but that's a lottery dream right now, I would rather try to pick up Cafe Corner or Green Grocer first.

I do think the query Paperball describes is useful, helps to see what is out there currently and see if you like the big sets. I think the big sets for the most part are more fun for me, as I usually like big builds and the challenge that comes with them.
