narbilu Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) :: pictures will follow soon :: the story so far :: I am Nar’Bilu, a blue skinned Twi’Lek born and raised for most of my years before my teens on the planet Ryloth. In my early teens my father’s political status skyrocketed and he was appointed diplomat functioning next to the Twi’Lek councillor in Cloud City. From this day on, we were constantly on the move and I had to say my beloved planet goodbye. Years went by, going to banquets, travelling to distant planets, meeting important persons and the time came to go to university. With his influence my father enrolled me into the best scientific school in the universe and I excelled. School was hard word, but had so many joyful moments. In the final semester we had to find an internship. I asked my father to pull some strings and get me into the Dinoli project. He succeeded. With just a small suitcase, some study material and two other interns, a small personnel vessel took me to Tatooine. We arrived on a sand covered platform, dust was clearing the area when the vessel landed and from behind the dust a small facility appeared. A yellowish round building with a small entrance, showing a Mon Calamari man in the opening. It had to be Dar Dinoli, one of the foremost, rewarded and decorated scientists of the Alliance. He welcomed the three best of their class interns with open arms. Their visit to Tatooine was their first test. Dinoli had to determine what each of them was worth. His method proved sufficient to shift the interns. I was assigned to his own crew, the second was send to study on medical bay and the third to research fauna. Everyone seem to have his own asset. Fortunately I was send to do fieldwork with the big man himself. Together with two of his best researchers we went on field missions, which stretched out to Hoth, Endor and planets further than that. Some missions were done in a blink of an eye and sometimes we came in dangerous situations. The mission on Delrakkin was memorable and for me encouragement to use some of my political contacts. We were ambushed by locals and it almost got us killed. During the mission de-brief I suggested to add a few soldiers to our crew. These men could do area recon and help the team in distressful situations. Some tactical footmen. The internship was over and I graduated Cum Laude. Together with Dinoli I presented my script and my suggestion to one of the counsellors, who I met during my visits with my father. Because of the function of Dinoli’s work he agreed to make it an issue on the next gathering. Dinoli and I reviewed my internship and we parted with the agreement to contact each other whenever I needed a job. First I want to enrol into the army for basic training, political reasons and patriotic feelings. Months of serious and intense training, we were summoned to The Redemption for official mission assignments. I kept close contact with Dinoli and my father during my training. Dinoli called and told me my suggestion was approved by the counsel and that a platoon troopers are going to be assigned to him soon. After the joyful news I contacted my father and he concurred. I asked him to pull some strings, to get me on that crew. The Redemption is more than I expected, one of the most beautiful vessels in the fleet, for sure. I entered a room filled with over a hundred troopers and pilots staring at the unlit screen in front of them. I squeezed in and a couple of minutes later a general saluted his audience. Everyone sat quietly during his speech: “Welcome to the Rebellion and congratulations on achieving your basic training. Your basic training is nothing more than that, it is nothing compared to actual battle situations. Your real training starts today, there is no better training than experience it in real life confrontations. Some of us will get hurt or even get killed, and it may sound cliché, but what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger. Each of you will be assigned to a platoon and one of these fine Majors. Your Major will escort you to one of the strategic rooms and explain the specific mission to you and your team. Each team will contain eight troopers, three pilots and a Major or Lieutenant. This will be your platoon for the next period. Your brothers and sisters you will have to protect with your life, hold your back and share your life with. When you see your name appear, walk quietly to the designated Major and join him to the tactical room. Rebellion, fight for freedom and take back the galaxy! Names started popping up on the screens and everyone stood up from their chair to get a good view. I crossed my fingers. “Please let it be Dinoli’s platoon”, “I can’t stand guard missions on a giant vessel”. My name popped up behind Major Logath, 4th Platoon 38:5. The screen also said TR03, meaning tactical room 03. Again I was the last to arrive in the tactical room. Thirteen persons with different origins, but most human, stood around a table-screen. As I squeezed in, the Major tapped the screen. A giant white planet emerged in 3D from the screen. The Major started: “Welcome team, I am Major Lyle Logath and we are the lucky ones to be one of four platoons flying off to Hoth. We are even the luckiest platoon. We are going to protect and oversee a privately owned research facility just thirty minutes outside Echo Base. Our assignment will be to protect the research of the Mon Calamari scientist Dar Dinoli. He is under political protection, one of the foremost respected scientists of the Alliance and his research is rewarded and appreciated by both sides. As long as this man does research we got the advantage. Wedge Windsor... you are promoted to lieutenant, congratulations. I will be staying on Echo Base, you will report to me directly. You get a specific duty list, assign the members of your team to the appropriate task. We will be using small, medium and rifle blasters, whatever one suits your best. We have two T47 snowspeeders to our disposal and whatever Dinoli has available in his research complex. Barracks BR03 is yours for the next two days. Use these two days to get to know each other we leave on 38:5:3 at 02 Hockley platform, be in time! In a light pace, me and my platoon headed to the barrack containing a social room with six doors. Behind the doors were two person rooms with just beds. The crew nod affirmative and crashed down in the social room. We introduced themselves and socialized for a while. The first thing I did was send a message to my dad, thanking him, and to Dinoli to tell him the good news I was coming to his Hoth facility. After a good night sleep we gathered around the table, Wedge standing and taking the lead on the duty list. We have four duty types. Recon, patrol, defence and cover duties. Wegde starts shifting. The two pilots are assigned Recon, as that duty involves flying the T47 snowspeeders. Five troopers on patrol, three on defence and the best two scout troopers and a pilot on cover duty. Me being an excellent scout am going on cover ops. Something I spoke about with the lieutenant before this meeting. After the briefing the lieutenant heads to report to the Major and orders his crew to gear up for very cold environment. Later that afternoon the barrack is filled with cases and weaponry, ready for the evening planned pickup. 3 ABY (38:5:3) Hockley platform, everyone is present. Towering on the platform, stands a YZ-775 medium transport vessel. Loaded with material, supplies and the crew’s cases ready for takeoff. Course is set for Hoth just outside Echo Base. We boarded the vessel and strapped ourselves in the available seats. Exactly at 02 the engine starts roaring and lifts from the platform. As the Redemption shrinks in size the hyperdrive is activated, blurring the view to a white blue-ish light. In just thirty minutes the vessel crashes back to normal drive. A large white, snow covered planet appears just in front of the vessel and the intercom creaks: We are only an hour away of our destination. The landing will be rough, but weather situations are in our favour. So be sure to be ready to deploy soon. The vessel will be heading back before nightfall. Listen to your commander and all will run smoothly. Good luck, over and out. All goes to plan and the vessel stands still on the platform in front of an small building welded out of a mountain. The surveillance team, now at present in the facility is ready to deploy and helps the new platoon unloading the vessel. All is done within two hours. With not much on their backs the old team boards and before they know it, the platform is empty, leaving nothing more than boxes, crates and a fourteen men platoon. Dinoli and his team welcomes the platoon, winks at me. He gives a grand tour. The platoon reassemble at their quarters. The Major and lieutenant separate themselves for briefing. After another two ours Wedge returns. The Major is transported to Echo Base. I’ll assign myself to the facility and will take patrol duties. Recon and cover can stay here for now. Patrol, grab a medium blaster and position at these spots on the facility. Defence, make two teams and go to these two defence towers. Always one active and one backup. Recon, take a nap and inspect your vehicles afterwards. Cover will report to Dinoli in the morning. Dismiss. Before my nap, I got a short message from Dinoli, to meet him in his room. I entered the room, Dinoli having a serious but friendly face welcomed me again. We talked for hours about my training, his research and my role on his facility. Soon to be facilities. He is planning to move his research to Nar Eurbrikka. It’s a newer planet, with different environments, making it a fascinating planet to map. He ends his conversation with the note that I have to keep in role and can’t expect any more favouritism. I realize that I have to earn my respect on his side on military field as I did on my research capabilities. 3 ABY (38:5 to 38:6:6) Before dawn me and my fellow cover crew members, being another trooper and a pilot, report to Dinoli in his control room. Dinoli briefs: Welcome to my facility, knowledge is one of the winning factors in life, battle and progression. The most important thing to know in environments like here on Hoth is what you can expect and be prepared for any situation. We had snowstorms coming out of nowhere, avalanches, deadly creature attacks etcetera etcetera. Today we will start easy, just to let you become comfortable with these weather conditions. Five clicks east I discovered a plant surviving these circumstances. I want to grab a sample and take it back here. So suit up and meet me here in thirty. It was a fascinating week, Dinoli really takes the time to train us. Logical, because we will be his personal guard the coming months and we have to have his back and be his non-scientific eyes. It seems I adopt fine to different temperature settings and this facility gives me enough opportunity to grow in knowledge as in experience. The first day we walked to a small bush just outside base and took samples of a living plant, nothing spectacular. The second day we had to travel further and Dinoli introduced us to Tauntauns. A fascinating grey riding creature, horned but very friendly and quick I must say. It took me five days to get those things under control. One particular creature seems to favour me. I named him Bran, after my brother. He smells the same and listens to it funny enough. A lot had happened, we met with snowstorms, blizzards really. We caught a living Wampa. Explored under icy lakes and dwelled deep in snow covered caves. I could get used to this line of duty. 3 ABY (38:6:7 - 8) One of the pilots came running to the sleeping quarters with the shocking news that he just saw an army of AT-AT’s heading towards Echo Base. Moments later the news came that Echo Base was under attack and that they can’t hold the power of The Empire’s army. We have to evacuate today. Dinoli and his crew packed all his research, animals, plants and other undefined things onto the Bi-O-Logic. A Star Cruiser equipped with laboratory, enough storage space and supplies to last a decade. The T47 Snowspeeders, Bi-O-Tow and the Bi-O-Hazard were docked on board as well. Before we realized it, everything was packed and protected. The challenge now was to get save passage out of Hoth orbit. It was easier than thought, because the Empire fleet was too busy with ships ascending from Echo Base. Echo Base was lost, Hoth was lost, so Bi-O-Hoth was lost and probably out of Alliance reach for the next few years. To continue h-8is research on cold environment Dinoli has to choose a new habitable location. The course was set to Cloud City to restock, study his findings and prepare for Nar Eurbrikka. Back on Cloud City, Dinoli reported to the responsible officer his recommendations for the current platoon and that he would like this team on his next expedition. We were de-briefed and reassigned to Dinoli. After a week leave we reported back to Dinoli’s quarters. Dinoli had a brief session with Wedge and the Major. On the top of Nar Eurmount, the highest mountain of the north half of the planet, I started building a large research lab that will enable me to continue my Hoth research. Circumstances are almost the same as on Hoth. It will be one of many facilities that the counsel allowed me to build on Nar Eurbrikka. We will departure the 10th of next month. Make sure your team is well rested, suited up for different situations and ready for an exciting time. But one day before that day came... Edited August 14, 2013 by narbilu Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Wow thats a lot of text, I like your story but the pics should compliment it, I hope to see some images soon, and remember that Hoth is under Imperial control. Quote
Tariq j Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Long story and very interesting, I looking forward to the pictures. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 and remember that Hoth is under Imperial control. If he does multiple separate MOCs for this, they'll each be judged separately (if he wants more than one judged), so if he absolutely has to have a Hoth scene in there, then that one will just be ineligible for judging. (per the Non-Canon Free Build rule) Quote
narbilu Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 Thanks for the nice feedback... Hoth won't be upon my MOCs, according to the rules. It just gives a nice touch to my background story. For each story I will make a single MOC, this one will probably involve an overview of her Platoon. Enough stories to tell and build. Quote
