I would have to vote for

- 8043 --- love excavators - well built and looks very good

- 8265 --- love wheel loaders - great looking model

- 8258 --- great looking truck, red and yellow looks good together

I don't own any of these, though. I'll update this post with my thoughts on the 42009 when I've got it and built it.

Hello to all!

This is my first post, I'm glad to be here with you, true lovers of LEGO.

I'm almost 30 years, I gave up the interest for LEGO in 1997, but I picked it stronger than before 3 years ago.

Without a doubt the favorite set of my adolescence were 8880 Supercar and 8480 Space Shuttle from my point of view a masterpiece of engineering), while for the "studless" I can mention 8258 Crane truck (gearbox is something fabulous), 8265 Front Loader (impressive details) and, I think, 8043 Motorized Excavator (soon it will build using all my sets;)).

I can not find the best, but I have a special memory for 8880: in 1994 I cried so much to get it and... I had to wait until 2010 to have it ;)

My first set when it was called Technical Lego, model 854 from 1978.

My first set as well. Brings back memories

My first thought was 8265 Front Loader. I think that one is particularly good. Also, 8458 Silver Champion, which I think is the best looking studded set.

I agree with the previously mentioned 8258 Crane Truck, 8880 Super Car, 8480 Space Shuttle.

Oh, and of course the Command Center dinosaur :D

lso, 8458 Silver Champion, which I think is the best looking studded set.

is you count 8458 "Silver Champion" as a studded set then i would vote for its brother 8461 "Williams racer" - its more modern panels give it a cleaner look cmpared to the 8458 - see the picture some posts above... a really beautiful model... (BTW: unfortunatelly the same crap front suspension as 8458)

For sure 8258 and 8265. On the second place comes 8043 and 8285. If i had to pick one, i would pick the crane truck for sure. Stunning Lego model, a pleasure to look at it.

<lego nerd>The seat needs to have a 16t gear for the longitudinal adjustment, not a 24 tooth :) </lego nerd>

Right!!

I noticed something was amiss but did not identify what, the faucet kept distracting me. Random internet picture anyways.

I like 8109 a lot as well - really clever mechanism. Not really a lover of 8466 though - I think it lacks elegance and doesn't really bring anything new to the party. I think 8043 is particularly good, especially with the way the 4th function on the remote is to switch between drive and operating the arm.

originally this topic only wanted to "judge" the beautiness of the look of the models - not the cleverness of their mechanism....

8461 all the way, what a thing of beauty. Just built it for the first time, was a very enjoyable build as well. Blows 42000 out of the water.

856 and 8551. They are not beautiful related to "beauty", but they are beautiful related to "realism".

And not to forget about 8848, the first Unimog.

I just finished building the 8448 (finally found a cheap copy), and I must say it's also quite a beauty. I love the folding roof, very elegant mechanism. No panel overkill, but elegant use of hoses and soft axles for contouring.

Finally finished 8458, thumbs up for this classic beauty as well! Must say that, although it is less realistic-looking, it's even more beautiful than 8461. Love those metallic silver panels.
