xenologer Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Just wondering, given the lack of female minifigs as of late; if any of you have transvested your excess male population? You know, taking the gender neutral oldstyle smilies, and adding some female hairpieces. I was considering it, since I have a few hairpices from a minifig accessory bag I bought a while back... but it seemed... kind of wierd, changing minifigs' genders... 8- Quote
Hobbes Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 You wouldn't really "change the gender". "Back in the days" there was only one smiley head, the difference between male and female was achieved by the different hair pieces. So, basically you would just go retro ;-) Quote
Vader Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 You know i thought i had seen it all on these boards................then i saw this *Walks away quicly from this............ X-D Quote
Brainbox Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Bear in mind though, that plenty of female hairpieces can be used for men. Like the blonde hair currently in use on a minifig version of me. So 'female hair' isn't necessarily female. For example, me: Quote
Optimax X Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 When i was really bored, i changed Dr Kilroy to a girl, but no, i never really use females in my MOCs, i mean, i know this sounds really sexist, but can you actuly name any female racing drivers? I can only name 3. Quote
exo attack Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Yes, I gave Hikaru a women face to make a temporary hitomi. I would make more woman figs, If I had more than one girl hairpiece and face. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I changed some boys to girls... But most themes, are, you know... boy-ish. -ZotS Quote
Starwars4J Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 When I was younger, there were few female figs, so I just decided that (since at that point I was out of Pirates and Castle, and into space) that they had just evolved past gender :-P But since they started making more, with specifically female faces, I've just decided that the area I collect and MOC in is just unusual for women to work in, and that they're plentiful "off screen" Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Most of my minifigs live in a bucket anyways. Honestly, what does one do with hundreds of minifigs at any given time? I have enough female minifigs to meet most of my needs. Moreover, as a castlehead, soldiers are the norm, so I don't really need alot of female figs anyways. Only when building a village-oriented MOC do females really become necessary. Quote
xenologer Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 into space) that they had just evolved past gender :-P Oh noes... you've made me realize a big flaw in my plans! a lot ot my stuff is Space too... and helmet-hair is not going to work that well... I guess I could go with 'casual space', no helmets or airtanks...but that doesnt work so great unless its a SHIP with airlocks... fighter pilots would still want suits.. Quote

That's why my female pilots fly completely self-contained fighters, and if they absolutely NEED a helm, I use a female faceprint with some hair around the eyes X-D I'll take pictures in a few days to better show what I mean Quote
Unknown Artist Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Ummm, I prefer what one may call 'Lego Plastic Surgery', decals: But I guess it's not important if that lady still has a moustache and a beard on the back of her head... >:-) Quote

Wout Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 When I was younger, there were few female figs, so I just decided that (since at that point I was out of Pirates and Castle, and into space) that they had just evolved past gender :-P But since they started making more, with specifically female faces, I've just decided that the area I collect and MOC in is just unusual for women to work in, and that they're plentiful "off screen" I still think they can make more women for City then the 2 female hairpieces figs from Cafe Corner. When I was young, they had in Basic sets and town sets +/- 40% female hairpieces figs and while I was a little boy I liked that. It gave a more realistic town. Even in the horrible 1997-2000 city sets they had more female figs. Quote
casewindu Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 it may be nice for new female figures but i am not to bothered because i have so many as it is. instead of Gender i think Lego should make more multi-cultural figs to put in your town not to make us buy basketball sets to get different nationality figures. Brainbox Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 instead of Gender i think Lego should make more multi-cultural figs to put in your town not to make us buy basketball sets to get different nationality figures. They decided that yellow was multi-national, rather than being white. That's why fleshies were brought in. Adding character like Lando and Mace Windu with a dark head would make the company look discriminatory because it would make yellow equal white. Which is why we only get 'coloured' figs in licence sets. Quote
