Capt.JohnPaul Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 $107 worth of bricklink orders came in yesterday, and I got right to work! Thanks to Derfel Cadarn for the techniques/tutorials! Now I present a section of wall of my city. I can add onto it if I wanted, and I have a town I can put behind it in different sections. (Sort of modular,) Full thing. Pond where the city gets its water. Arrow Slit. Top of tower where lookout and archers can be. Inside. The wall, and includes a few studs and jumper plates to place guards. Overview. Comments and Criticism welcome! Quote
Alfadas Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 WOW, that looks great!! I love the details in the wall, I love it!! Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Great work, and I love the arrow slits on the tower, but where that square tile is, you should probably straighten the tiles round there more. You may be going for a weathered look, but as I learnt from my guard house, they shouldn't be too crazy or it's unrealistic.. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Nice wall design, the SNOT tiles give a neat effect Two things that I think could be improved: the wooden crenelations on top of the tower, if you had done a wooden roof with the crenelations I think it would look more fitting than just the crenelations being wood; the tan/dark tan 2x2 tiles between the crenelations on the normal wall don't really fit the color-scheme of the wall, I think bley/dark bley would look better. Overall and very good build, I like the little section of pond you included Quote
Gideon Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Excellent MOC, especially the wall! The ground and pond is also very appealing and has a realistic look. I think the color scheme in general is very well balanced, but i think the dark green might have looked better on the lower part of the wall and not the crenelations. The banding in the wall is also a tad to pronounced, I think a more mixed light/dark bley tile pattern would have gone even further in creating that worn feeling you seemed to aim for. Quote

Though I can change the tan on the crenelations to gray, I have a few tiles left. Excellent MOC, especially the wall! The ground and pond is also very appealing and has a realistic look. Also, it was a piece shortage, I have like, no dark green, and I thought the best use was a few merlins and give that Avalonia color scheme. Notes taken everyone! Quote
Esurient Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Great MOC! Love how you did the wall! great work on the arrow slit and the tower as well! Quote
