Lego Spy Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) The red glow was consistent, I remember it well. But it only featured in the final arc of TCW, one maybe two appearances? A very obscure ship in the grand scope of TCW. Who knows? Maybe they'll recycle them into SW Rebels. Thanks for clearing that up, it's been a long time since that final arc of The Clone Wars (or not final). Since it is a Republic ship I would think not, but the Empire has recycled a lot of the Republic's designs, so it is possible. Post #333 for me. Edited November 21, 2013 by Lego Spy Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Better pics of those sets are here. I want them all so badly! I dislike how Han has cheekbones now, though I did point it out when we first got pics. -Sci Quote
Phoib Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I know that website isn't the cheapest, but 21 euro for the battlepacks??? Holy pasta... Quote
Clone OPatra Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Oh man. I haven't really dug any Star Wars sets for a while (though I've bought a few), but man that Gunship is great. It was such an ugly, mashed-together ship in the show too, but LEGO has made it look great and the figures are superb. Sure, they could've added Wolffe or Ventress, but those Shock Troopers are the best looking use of the terrible helmet I've seen, and I'm glad there's another chance to get the updated Ahsoka. That's a buy. The only downside figs-wise is… they really couldn't give Anakin a new face? I'm glad I have the Freeco Speeder for his angry face, but honestly they need to give him another face than that smile. Oh well. Quote
jindianajonz Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) And that Tri... looks identical to the one released in 2005, minus Palps. I think it looks significantly bulkier- the original was only two studs wide on the arms, whereas this one is four. Plus there's a bit more going on behind the bubble. I like the new palpatine figure- i never thought that blonde looked quite right on the one from Palpatine's Arrest. The Police Gunship looks very generic Lego Space, but judging from the pictures of the orignal, this is not the fault of the Lego designers. If I ever find it cheap while craving a Lego fix, I may pick it up since it will likely be my last chance of ever getting an Ahsoka fig. Edited November 21, 2013 by jindianajonz Quote
strangely Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Better pics of those sets are here. I want them all so badly! I dislike how Han has cheekbones now, though I did point it out when we first got pics. -Sci I think the expressions are at least pretty characteristic for Han. I'm usually a bit iffy on cheekbones, but I think this is at least acceptable, I think it at least looks a tad bit better than that rather bland face we currently have. Then again after seeing Lois Lane's terrible cheekbones this year anything is bound to look better in comparison. I will say that it would probably have looked better if they had matched him with a better hairpiece. This current one really has worn out its welcome for me. I'll definitely be swapping out that hair, perhaps with the Barista's hair from the Lego Movie minifigures. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I love the Courscant Police Gunship, the design has been executed beautifully and the vehicle looks extremely cool, especially for such a background-type vehicle. I like the Minifigs, but wish it had come with Six, maybe adding in Fox/Wolffe and Ventress. I hope this is not the last CW set, there is so much more for Lego to explore! Quote
LegoFjotten Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Seriously, EUR 17 for a microfighter set? You have got to be kidding me... Quote
grymg Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Whoa, looks like TLG hasn't put landing gear on the interceptor yet. Thought they would after the complaints from 9494. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Mind-Blo! The Police gunship looks really, really cool! Tat is defiantly going to be a must have, ecpecialy since it means we get a phase two shock trooper! Quote
Csacsa234 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 It's strange to see the hype about microfighters. When TLG announced them just hatred came, but now lots of people love them, I mean it's not bad, but why judge when you didn't see the final thing. Thank you for the pic "grymg" now I'am more excited about the new sets, that new eta fighter is just lovely the way it is but my first round is gotta be the polcice or the droid gunship, those are my favs from the new wave. And I still do. Preliminary pictures bring, well, preliminary judgement. So it's fine to judge their preliminaries, but the final pictures are usually totally upgraded and presented much better. Csacsa234 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Sorry I was just writing the average opinion about them, I didn't mean to offend anybody. I was just surprised to see the pre-judgement about something that nobody have seen yet. Quote
Faefrost Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I think the Police Gunship has become my favorite set of this wave. It looks gorgeous. The only thing that would improve it would be an Asajj Ventriss fig in a Bounty Hunter helmet. Or an evil Bariss Offee minifig instead of yet another Anakin. Quote
CJBERRY Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I like the look of the microfighters, given they are effectively replacing the planets, is it fair to guess they will be the same price? Really like the Tie Interceptor and the Falcon Quote
khatmorg Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 The Vulture Droid has a seat for the pilot droid, it's a nice play feature but I think I'll pass on this version. I like the shape overall but it just seems too bulky, the "old" version was pretty much spot on imo. Quote
strangely Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Whoa, looks like TLG hasn't put landing gear on the interceptor yet. Thought they would after the complaints from 9494. Agreed. It is definitely a disappointment they didn't really improve the design. On top of the landing gear they didn't really do anything to fix the brittleness of it as far as I can see. Honestly I tire of popping those wings back on and retrieving R2 when his seat unexpectedly falls out from under him. Also I honestly am tired of the clunky cockpit piece. I've never really liked how they use the printing to indicate where it actually should open, but it doesn't. I feel like with as many times as Lego makes specialized limited use parts they could have made a new cockpit piece that opens correctly. After all it's a style of cockpit that appears pretty often in the prequels, they'd certainly get good use out of a new mold. Edited November 21, 2013 by strangely Quote
wesker Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Love the Police Gunship. The trans red cockpit really makes the set stand out from the usual SW ships. Those Shock Troopers look fantastic too. Shame we're not getting Asajj Ventress though. Feels like a missed opportunity not having a bounty hunter variant with that awesome face mask. The Droid Tri-Fighter looks good. Not a whole lot different from the last version but still a solid looking set. Palpatine looks pretty good and its nice to finally have a neutral non-deformed face for him. Definitely will come in handy for a TPM/AOTC Darth Sidious. I don't mind Han Solo's new face much. The smirking side will take some getting used too, but his other expression is a nice improvement over the previous version. Quote
North Lego Star Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Well, the police gunship is an excellent set, I would even go as far to say, it's the best set of the wave, but the only thing is that we don't get a commander woffle in any of the sets so that's really bad on lego's part, but if anything he should have been included in the Republic Cannon. The Droid Tri Fighter is also a really good set, palpatine is nice and the design of the fighter is greatly improved if you ask me. Concering the Micro sets, there all really crappy to me, their designs are really bad and the minifigs aren't enough to support the whole set. When can we expect some rumors of the summer wave to appear? Quote
Artanis I Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I will only be echoing other's sentiments, but I am disappointed to have Anakin when someone else could've been included like a bounty hunter Ventress, Plo Koon, or other clone. I already have the new Ahsoka, and the ship looks a bit weird to me (not TLGs fault), but the clones are a must-have so the jury's out. I like the look of the Tri-Fighter, I will probably go for it. Microfighters are a given. Quote
TeufelHund Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 What a godawful wave - the microfighters are lame even to my 5 year old and the Police Gunship and Tri-fighter are nothing special. Palaptine looks like Grand Moff Tarkin in handcuffs rather than the robed figure the heroes "rescue" in Episode 3. On the bright side I guess this will mean I can save some money for buying Hobbit sets... Quote
Faefrost Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 On the bright side I guess this will mean I can save some money for buying Hobbit sets... Heck! There's only 4 Hobbit sets. Go get yerself some Turtles too Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Do we know yet if the Police Gunship will be a Toys 'r Us exclusive? Really hoping it's not a Walmart exclusive, as their sales are not only few and far between up here, but they also suck big time! (really, just $5 off when across the boarder it's half-fething-price? Thanks for nothing!) Quote

Whether a wave is good or not is a matter of opinion and not a fact like the way you're stating it. whether a set is anything special or not is also a matter of opinion. you might not like those ships personally but it might be someone else's favorite. my 6 year old likes all the micro fighters and so do other younger members of my family.
