hysot Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Here's a "100% Lego-Legal" hood fix for the Cuusoo BTTF Delorean, and you can do it almost entirely using just the parts that come with the set. I am surprised that the designers did not opt for this nice simple solution. Perhaps they can issue a "fix-it-kit" like they did for the Shuttle Adventure! Hi Indiana Jones, I worked on the dolorean hood aswell, based on your idea (really good idea by the way), and here what I finally got: I add tiles on the sides and enlarge the windshield. hysot Quote
The Real Indiana Jones Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) Hi Indiana Jones, I worked on the dolorean hood aswell, based on your idea (really good idea by the way), and here what I finally got: I add tiles on the sides and enlarge the windshield. hysot Ah, yes, that is even better! I think I will do a quick BrickLink order now and do it your way. Plus this is a perfect example of why they should do a brief "Open Commentary Period" for each new Cuusoo set. Normally, they have to keep their new set designs a strict "trade secret", so their competitors do not steal them. But for Cuusoo sets, the general idea and the general design have already been publicly posted for years....! So Lego is not losing anything at all by revealing their "tentatively-final-revision" of the design, and then giving the fans one last chance, for two weeks or so, to give some final input. In fact, it would create more buzz, and make sure everyone is (more or less) happy! I wrote to them a nice letter to suggest it, and they wrote me a very nice letter back saying that they will consider the idea for the future... I think it's a "win-win"! badbob001 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I do have a gripe though; the figures do not fit into the interior very well. It takes a lot of fidgeting to get them situated in way the doors will close properly and they are not pushing the roof off with their heads. It can even be frustrating and not feel like Lego at all, but some endless chore. I have the same gripe about it being hard to fit both figures into the car, especially with Doc's hair. Just raising the roof by one plate helps a lot and doesn't really affect the profile. I'm going to order some parts to secure the figures inside (with jumper plates) and to play around with redesigning the hood and windsheild windshield. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 These mods look great. I will definitely do that whenever I get around to buying one. It's amazing how many people want to mod this thing. Obviously that is the point of LEGO, but still, odd that so many people want to change this official set. I think that says something. Quote

You can just replace the cheese wedge by the silver grill with a 1x1 tile like I did. Quote

I also notice that you haven't corrected what I consider one of the more glaring issues with the official set, that being that the black stripe is interrupted right in front of the doors. It looks like in your mod, like in the official set, this could be fixed quite easily by simply replacing some of the grey plates underneath the hood tiles with black ones (in the official set, only a single 4x8 plate needs to be swapped). OldBuilder Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I'm loving these reviews on the front page. Great in depth review this was, now I have to buy this set. This looks like a great reminder of the movies! Quote
Kez Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Great news a replacement part for the misspelt flux capacitor piece can now be ordered https://legocuusoo.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/226962-information-about-the-back-to-the-future-set-flux- Quote
SMC Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks for the info, might get the right window for my hobbit house at the same time. Quote
TheWarden Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Has anyone ordered and received the replacement piece yet? At least two people over at Brickset have reported that their replacement is still misprinted! I wonder what to do now...order one now or wait? Quote
Laservampire Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I sent Lego a replacement parts request over a week ago and haven't heard anything back. Quote

Super Goblin Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Ha, what's the point of a replacement if it has the same flaw? Quote
Lego Otaku Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Maybe they misunderstood what you meant by misprint and sent you the same old misprinted piece? Someone needs to go there and remind them about i before e except after c. Quote
grymg Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Great news a replacement part for the misspelt flux capacitor piece can now be ordered https://legocuusoo.u...uture-set-flux- I got my shipment notice today. Hopefully I get the corrected spelling? Or else it will make good use in my Stark's laboratory. Quote
antp Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I updated the instructions for the mod similar to the one posted earlier on this page to reflect the changes I made after the last time I posted them: http://imgur.com/a/By7Bv I thought it was on this topic that I posted that, but I guess it was elsewhere then :D Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I got mine. STILL MISPRINTED. grrrrrrr I'll put it in Tony Stark's mansion. Quote
TheWarden Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Still no official LEGO response, but I see the following on the Brickset thread that might work: After receiving two orders myself for the replacement brick, and both still having the misspelling, I called back last night.LEGO CS is now aware that they were sending out the wrong pieces and they have a new part #. The new part number is 6083794 and the girl told me it is coming straight from Denmark. Also, this time the CS rep knew exactly what I was talking about, unlike the last 2 calls. So I expect in a few days I'll have the SHIELD instead of SHEILD. http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/238483/#Comment_238483 I might try this. Quote
badbob001 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I asked for part 6083794 and still got the incorrect part! This was my second attempt! I don't think anybody in the world has received the correct part, if it exists at all. Quote
grymg Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I got mine a couple weeks ago, wrong part. lame indeed. Quote
monkeyjackie Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The CS i talked to knew what i was saying (she told me she had a memo in hand).... Still the wrong piece.... Quote
CopMike Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 From TLG: Dear all - the consumer service warehouse have corrected the error so all replacement element should be correct. Thanks for making us aware of this issue.Best, Tormod : Quote
