Robin Lego Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 How about a nightclub? With disco-dancefloor, some DJ's and a cool record-store on the top floor? Quote
SFmuscle73 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Has there been any word that for 2016 they will release the second series of the Mini Modules to include PS, TH, PC, PR & DO? Does anyone remember what month the first set came out in? Quote
tafkatb Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 The first one came out in January of 2012, nearly two years after Grand Emporium, so by that logic I would think a second set would come out in 2017, if at all. Quote
Alucard1977 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I don't know how popular of an opinion this is, but I think we need the next set to be something like the Petshop again. For a proper lego town, I think we need more townhouses in the Modular sets. At the moment, we have only 2 sets for a residence. GG and PS. That doesn't make much sense, especially with us having a movie theater, a mall, a town hall, a hotel, a street market, a french restaurant, a detectives office, barber shop, pool hall, pet shop, fire station and a grocery store. I mean that is a lot of commerce for a total of 3 or 4 apartments across the board. I have been thinking of getting more petshops for this, but at the end of the day, I like having different sets. Which actually makes me want another set like the pet shop for the next modular. This has also given me a SEVERE itch for the GG. But that is one expensive itch to scratch. VERY EXPENSIVE. At the going rate, I could build a Petshop neighborhood at that price! Quote

Most are expecting a corner building for the next release as this would fit the pattern. Also, don't forget that the Parisian Restaurant is residential above the actual restaurant. I am not sure the next one will be residential given the typically commercial nature of corner buildings. They tend to be things like stores or banks in most of the towns around here. Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I would like an Emmet's apartment building. Quote

Really good points. I forgot about the Parisian Restaurant. I haven't gotten around to buying it yet since I was trying to catch up on the older ones (FB, TH, GE). As for a corner unit, I think if they wanted to, they can still do a business on the ground floor and apartments on the second and third floors. I see that in NYC all the time. The question is, how did the 1950ish era the Modular's are going for handled that? That would work actually pretty well. Edited May 20, 2015 by Alucard1977 Quote
Lego Conductor Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 As far as the pattern is concern I do believe the DO broke it. For sake of point Im excluding the MS. CC - Corner Business GG - Commercial Residential FB - Civic GE - Corner Business PS - Commercial Residential TH - Civic PC - Corner Business PR - Commercial Residential DO - Commercial. So the pattern should have been a Civic modular for the DO which is as we know is a commercial type instead. I do hope this is a "one off" type situation and we get a corner business modular next! Im still hoping for a Bank or a Police Station! Quote
Alucard1977 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) There is an arguement to be made that the detective could be civic (sort of police). I know, a stretch. But still. I mean it is called a detective agency, not a PI. And he is investigating illegal cookie making, which is a matter a of civil lego law. Edited May 22, 2015 by Alucard1977 Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Civil law......maybe the next modular might be a court house ? Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Civil law......maybe the next modular might be a court house ? I sure hope not since I finished my first MOC this year---of a courthouse. I do not see how Lego could do it justice with the size and budget constraint (no pun intended). They could in theory give it the Town Hall treatment and make another $200+ building, but I can hear the outcry now. Also, it would not be the best candidate for a corner building. Most courthouses are given a prominent position on the Town Square, if not the center of the square itself, at least the ones here are like that. It seems like each new modular has very little in common with the previous one for the sake of variety in terms of architecture and theme. Therefore, I would expect that the new one will not be "crime" related. Quote
jonwil Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Bought the Detective's Office today, its the best set of 2015 so far easily (only things that I know of that might top it would be Ideas sets like the Dr Who set) Still building the barber shop (bag 2) Awesome parts selection too (lots of great parts for the Italian Pizzeria I intend to build) Quote

totallymodular Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) I inadvertently posted this in the city thread before when it's obviously more relevant here, so here I go again: I'm moving abroad and so I'm going to have sell the few modulars I've accumulated. What's the best way to do it? Should I ebay or try via forum like this one? I have the Pet Shop, the Parisian Restaurant (which I love) and two bike shop sets that I'd like to sell as one 'lot'. All the way from NZ to Malaysia Well I'd like to, but my girlfriend has made it clear in vaguely passive aggressive terms that 'we won't have room'...I think I lost my leverage with how much it's going to cost to ship out my record collection. vmckee Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I would try selling on Bricklink or an afol forum like this one unless you already have high ebay rep. I just sold a Unimog on Ebay (my first auction in years) and was shocked by the fees (10% just for the auction and I included shipping free). I'd like to buy a Parisian Restaurant, but fiancee will kill me... mapimi Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Cool, thanks. You could also pack them up and keep them as parts until you have room for them (give you time to convince your fiancee as well) Quote
talos Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I see that the Natural History Museum Ideas project got turned down on the latest Ideas set announcement... Figures...I think any type of building is doomed, too complex and competes with their existing lines. Quote

Figures...I think any type of building is doomed, too complex and competes with their existing lines. If I were entering any type of modular structure on Ideas, this would certainly be disheartening. I think the museum had the best chance of any set that size, and I truly believe it would have sold well. Maybe the museum did not have enough of a storyline or play features Quote
Robin Lego Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Very disappointing indeed :-( I just watched the video and was really hyped up. Poor, poor, poor... Quote
tehkei Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Thats too bad. it was a good idea. maybe he should have tossed a criminal and a couple cops in the museum Quote
