Demetreous Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 So, this is what I have so far... A kimono-like decal that I am working on... But I really want to add details to it... However when I try to do that, it begins to look like sketch rather than the clothing of a lego minifigure... Anyone have any advice on how to make it look more detailed, without making it look too "busy"? Thanks, ~Deme Quote
Scubacarrot Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 You can try using a (light) grey colour to try and add shadow or something, you can also try to add wrinkles to how the clothes fit. Your design is fairly similair to this torso, from the CMF series 2 Karate Master. Something that could also help is adding in detail to the "neck" area. I hope this will help! Quote
Demetreous Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 Thank you very much, Scuba. It really helps! Just one question though... What sort of "neck detail" are you referring to? Quote

Well, I don't know what kind of figure you plan on using it for. But I imagine the figure is not going to wearing a white t-shirt underneath the kimono? If you make the neck/chest area yellow, it may look very different already, the second version looks much better already! Quote
Demetreous Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 I tried that earlier... but it just seems a bit strange when I make it yellow in the neck area... Perhaps it will look better on a lego minifig, as long as I use the right shade of yellow... Quote
(Dutch) Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Hello Demetreous, Let me give you a couple tips which, may help you out. A good way to add depth to a design is for varying widths of lines. Try having your outer line wider than the inner lines. Adding cloth lines can be tricky at times, but with this design it's rather simple. Please take a look at the example I designed for you. (Feel free to use it if you'd like) -Dutch Quote
