snefroe Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 and your point is? :-$ getting awards for your products doesn't mean that you may not have very good reasons to stop producing them... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 1, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 1, 2007 I wasn't aware that I needed to make a point, I just wanted to present some information that users here may not be aware of. Nor do I recall mentioning anything about the correlation of these awards and The LEGO Group no longer producing 4+ pirate sets. Quote
Captain Roger Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 THAT AWFUL SHIP HAVE WON!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!!! WE MUST KILL PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT WINNER! i feel really sad when i see that awful pirate sets have won awards...because then TLC won't re-release the great LEGO sets of System pirates....and we won't see again beautiful setsa like SES or ITP Quote
El Bucanero Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 4+ Pirate sets won awards, Yes, they really did! It's a miracle!!! :-P :-D Well, those parents certainly aren't Afols... But I hope the fact these got awards doesn't stop LEGO from eventually make a new and better pirate line... Mr Tiber Quote
Capn Frank Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 OH my gosh, :S I think i'm going to be sick. :-X I curious to know how many MORE rewards system pirates had compared to 4+ P Quote
snefroe Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 well honestly i would like to get that large pirate ship at one point. i think you can mod that into a nice transport ship... Quote

Just because the 4+ sets won awards doesn't mean there will be no future SYSTEM Pirate releases. well honestly i would like to get that large pirate ship at one point. i think you can mod that into a nice transport ship... Weren't you the one that told me you were going to MOC with 4+ Pirate sets a couple of years ago? But I debated they wouldn't be good to MOC with yet you insisted and you said you'd do it... But never I. In the time since I've done so and I found it very difficult. Don't suppose you've seen Catapult Raft SYSTEMized? Although you may have better luck with the large hull piece. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 well honestly i would like to get that large pirate ship at one point. i think you can mod that into a nice transport ship... I bought that ship, but I haven't been able to do much with it, then again I haven't really tried much yet. I did use the large skull figurehead piece, but that's all. I suppose the fact that it floats scores big with playability points, because mostly it is astetically :-X. I just hope this helps to let LEGO co. see that pirates is still a popular theme and that it extends back to system. Quote
Scouty Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Warble...wrable...wrapwarp. My bad, it must be the end of the world X-D :-P . It's good to see another Lego product get an award....even if it is 4+! Quote
Captain Roger Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 That isn't necessarily true. Just because the 4+ sets won awards doesn't mean there will be no future SYSTEM Pirate releases. mmmh you may be right...but i wanted to say if TLC aobtains benefits creating +4 pirates...then they probably continue creating the awful +4 pirates instead re-release system pirates...i think TLC won't release 2 pirate themes, and if they have to choose...they will choose +4 pirates :-X Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 3, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 3, 2007 I bought that ship, but I haven't been able to do much with it, then again I haven't really tried much yet.I did use the large skull figurehead piece, but that's all. You better get building then! Build the ship the way The LEGO Group intended it then have your brick beasts attack it X-D mmmh you may be right...but i wanted to say if TLC aobtains benefits creating +4 pirates...then they probably continue creating the awful +4 pirates instead re-release system pirates... Its been almost two and a half years after the initial release of the 4+ sets and we haven't seen anymore since. Instead The LEGO Group moved Pirates to Duplo. i think TLC won't release 2 pirate themes, and if they have to choose...they will choose +4 pirates :-X The Duplo Castle and Knights Kingdom II themes were released simultaneously, so I'd say anything is possible. Governor Mister Phes Posted March 6, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 6, 2007 Wish you had one what Mr Walkers? A 4+ Red Beard's Pirate Ship? Quote
Echo Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Well, they most certainly didn't deserve any awards. They were abominations. Quote
El Bucanero Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Well, they most certainly didn't deserve any awards. They were abominations. I think the parents nominated this because of all the crazy functions of these sets... They offer a lot of playability to smaller kids. Like shooting cannons with soft-top cannon"balls"( probably something the parents liked alot for safety reasons) ,floating ship etc etc.... again, those parents are certainly NO (pirate) AFOLs... Don't suppose you've seen Catapult Raft SYSTEMized? Although you may have better luck with the large hull piece. :'-) yep it was me! you have a very good memory, Pirate! and yes, i still have to buy one... I'm afraid it's not all that high on my priority list 8-| I'm kinda waiting untill they have it in a second hand shop... still, i think it's fairly wide, so you should be able to store quite a lot of barrels and things... that brown part at the bow of the ship looks great also, you gotta be able to use it .. somehow... or maybe you can build a 19th century cargo ship with a bit more hull sections... hm... yeah... one that used to transport natural resources from mines and distribution centers to the factories... Governor Mister Phes Posted March 8, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 8, 2007 There are some MOCs using the 4+ Ship hull but many have complained the tumblehome is ridiculously astute... But I haven't had much to do with it myself so I can't really comment on how useful that hull is for SYSTEM Pirate Ship MOCing. Quote
Cutlass Cole Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 You guys need to stop and think. ( I'll be doing this for a MOC idea soon :) ) If you were to replace the figs, these sets are truly decent. They mabye the closest thing too a real sequel to the Pirate theme. :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( Quote

I tried to improve a 4+ set by adding more pieces and replacing the mini-figures but it didn't work too well. You guys need to stop and think. You need to stop and browse the Pirate forum more thoroughly before you making recommendations on what other users should do. Also tone down the smiley usage because you're being too excessive. Quote
snefroe Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 i once said that the large part at the bow of the 4+ ship would be great for any minifig ship. Nope, I still don't have this set, however, some one else on Belug pointed out a moc of his that beautifully illustrates my point: i didn't know we had this piece in brown as well, but it most definitely improves the over all look. I like this diorama as well, even though he should have added a mast... Quote
simonwillems Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 some one else on Belug pointed out a moc That MOC is great, it ironically illustrates my point of view of where the entire 4+ Pirates line should end up: on the bottom of the deepest ocean.... :-/ Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 18, 2007 Author Governor Posted April 18, 2007 Its only two pieces though and I've seen SYSTEM ship MOCs using those particularly pieces. I agree that the 4+ pirate theme introduced a couple of useful new pieces for Pirate MOCers, but these pieces don't make it worthwhile acquiring the entire set. Quote
