The Cube of Mondrian by Veynom, on Flickr So this is a cube, not a painting and the contest specifically asked to prepresent a painting. So where is the painting ? Start looking at the faces of the cube and take some distance. Let's begin with the front face: Mondrian's Cube: Front by Veynom, on Flickr And you will see the first painting based on the below original painting from Piet Mondrian. But wait, there is more, look at the left side: Mondrian's Cube: Left by Veynom, on Flickr This is another original painting from Mondrian. But this is still not over. Let's try a top-down view: Mondrian's Cube: Top by Veynom, on Flickr This time we have a painting inspired by Mondrian. Then similarly, we have the two remaining faces : right ... Flying Ace Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 There is set on LEGO CUUSOO set of a Mondrian-inspired house. This MOC is really nice. It reminds me of a 3D optical illusion where a picture can only bee seen from a certain angle. I like the inclusion of the LEGO logo and name in the right and back views! Quote

I don't know what your competition looks like but this one seems like it has everything it needs to win: inspiration, structure and a uniquely LEGO take on the subject. Including each of the basic colors, black, white and some of the awesome 60s/70s printed bricks make this a quintessentially LEGO MOC. Great work! I will say there are two problems though: one white brick looks like it needs an additional plate underneath to meet the structure securely, and a few elements aren't completely snapped together. Some of the printed bricks are heavily faded and I would get replacements for those if possible. Quote

I've never seen a 3D sculptural version of any of Piet Mondrian's artwork before, and the way this cube incorporates several works from the artist (as well as some original compositions too) makes this amazing! Add to that the model holds its own as a three-dimensional piece, and I say you have a good chance of winning that contest. Good luck Veynom! Quote
