Legofin2012 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) So, just wondering if you've ever had a really frustrating moment? 1. I was at a garage sale and someone was selling a old space set, by the time I got there, a kid was looking at some other sets, when the seller says look "at this one, it has lights and sounds!" So of course the kid changes his mind and buys the space set. He buys a complete old 1980s space set because it has lights and sounds!! 2. Just placing the last piece on my latest MOC, when you press a bit to hard, and the whole thing falls apart. So frustrating! What's yours? Edited June 23, 2013 by Legofin2012 Quote
Sebeus I Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 1. I'm building this submarine and I'm in need of a specific part, I know I have this part but it's not in any of my sorted boxes so I figure I must have used it on an older moc... but where? 2. Eventually I do find the part but it's used in a moc I want to keep The result is that I've spent so much time looking for a part I won't use anyway. Yep, that's what bugs me quite often, I don't suffer the frustration of MOCs falling apart anymore, lately I've been assambling my MOCs in a more structured manner (or perhaps I'm just more carefull ). slovakiasteph Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 About LEGO falling apart... I tend to build on the floor, sometimes on the carpet, so I usually hold whatever I'm building in my hand, which sometimes results in it crumbling. Guess I should follow LEGO's directives... :) Quote
Leo604 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 1. Messing up one step in the middle of the instructions and only realizing your mistake at the end and having to go back and change it, etc. 2. Seeing something you want one day at Walmart but didn't bring enough cash to buy it, then going back the next day and it's gone. Quote

just2good Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I don't wanna sound greedy and I do appreciate when someone does this, but when someone gives me some old LEGO pieces/sets and they're all dusty and dirty. But, the pros outweigh the cons. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I can definitely understand when you push too hard and that party crumbles due to the pressure. Doesn't happen add often, but some designs are more fragile to achieve the look than others. Another is needing a piece for a MOC, but Lego didn't release it in the right color yet! The piece I needed was to be in black even. I think they might have released it 6 years ago in one set and only one was on bricklink, So just added the frustration. In the long run, I came up with a different piece that will ultimately achieve the look I want. And on top of that I think I am going to end up changing that MOC anyway based on other reasons, so I guess there is a reason for everything. And then, of course the most frustrating thing of all..not having enough money for all of these great sets! Quote

Balrog Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I was sorting out the pieces for Crowkillers Porsche 997 GT3 last saturday. So I have this pile of connector pieces and was searching and searching and searching for a specific piece. I knew it was there, since I had especially bought this piece in the right amount through Bricklink. So I initially gave up because I got frustrated and went on with the other pieces. I eventually found the missing piece later. It was lying in the corner of the box cover I used for sorting out the needed pieces. I banged my head for not properly looking into the corners. I thought a while about this incident. And guess what: This is the most annoying thing I have with Lego sind I was a kid. I experienced this a thousand times already. I hope this to get better once I have finally moved and thus get a proper building area. Oh and another thing that is really freaking me out since I was a kid: When you try to build something and you go on and on and finally you realize you are missing one specific piece which you simply don't have. Usually not much of a problem nowadays, but 20 years ago, something like this was a huge problem. Though it still buggers me today, because you need to pause, see where you get the part, purchase it along with a bunch of other stuff which you carefully choose (because the shop has a minimum buy limit) and wait until it arrives. Legofin2012 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 You're joking, right? Joe Nope, he got it for £10, if I had arrived a few minutes earlier I would of got it. Frustrating. Quote
Jargo Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I don't wanna sound greedy and I do appreciate when someone does this, but when someone gives me some old LEGO pieces/sets and they're all dusty and dirty. But, the pros outweigh the cons. My partner worked in a charity shop where loose Lego couldn't be sold. Only boxed sets were saleable. So he would bring home bags of random Lego which were invariably the remnants of a kid who'd outgrown Lego and covered in god knows what kind of filth and grime. I still have bags of it I haven't dared to investigate because it looks so grubby. I also have a quantity of Megabloks that has been mixed in. I'm disposing of it piece by piece so my partner doesn't notice a whole load being dumped. It's all that rubbish dragons and castles stuff MB did a few years ago. Quote

fred67 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Not being able to order any Lego set no matter the year or location or release. I.E. Items excusive to Europe. Or being able to order sets from Lego.com that older than a year. Yes... I don't mind limited availability, but I wish there was a way I could get every set LEGO makes. I don't mean that I would buy every set, but I wish I had the opportunity to get anything TLG makes... For example, I can't reasonably go to toy fairs or LEGO or comic conventions (unless they're in my city, and even then it's hard under my circumstances). So if they want to give something away for free for ordering $75 worth of LEGO, but only for one weekend, then at least I have the option to decide whether or not to get it. Yes, there's always bricklink, but in certain cases (Mr. Gold) it's just completely out of the realm of possibility, and in many cases it's just impossible given economic conditions (to pay $25 or $50 for a single minifigure). ... and those give-a-ways, like Mr. Gold or Chrome Vader are very frustrating... there are many collectors out there who are just as big a fan of LEGO as I am, but few that are more... yet 90% of the people who get these things are just your average buyers who don't know what the heck is going on. So a big Star Wars fan, who bought thousands of dollars worth of Star Wars LEGO, misses out on Chrome Vader, while some kid who got a set he didn't even want from Grandma gets one and melts it with his magnifying glass because he doesn't know any better. I wonder how many dust covered, chewed up Chrome Vaders there are out there, languishing in some kid's "junk" pile. Quote

Legogal Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Yup, everyone seems to suffer with tiny and monumental MOC collapses..... What really gets to me is stepping on the &)(:/@@@$);: tiny pieces after spending four days sorting and collecting those little buggers from all over the floor. During my first fifteen years as the mom of LEGO building sons, all I did was buy and then sort LEGO.....for days and days and days. And find grubby little parts for their builds. These parts are still showing up in our front yard, back yard, kitchen drawers, and inside just about everything we own. It does make me laugh when I come across another part....unless the vacuum has just eaten it. So now I have my own collection of LEGO, which I do not share with anyone under 16 because my stuff is nicely sorted. They can tear up their own LEGO and decapitate every minifig they own, but my people are safely stored in my containers! It gives me an overwhelming sense of power to have my own toys for the first time in my life because we did not have store bought toys as children, and even if we had, LEGO were not sold in stores here until I was in my twenties.
