Pendular shock absorbers

It always bothered me that pendular suspension can only (?) work with rubber bands, and I really don't like rubber bands, I am not sure why, so when I coincidentally broke the seal on a pneumatic actuator, I made this:

If there are two of them mounted on a pendular axle , when one compresses, the other one stretches. This allows one stud of travel both ways as the fully compressed spring takes up one stud:

Does anyone think this is a good idea? I would like to have pendular suspension with shocks but the compressing and stretching shocks may just take too much space. Anyone feel free to add your opinions and criticism.

Lots of people have made pendular suspension with shocks before but cool idea anyway. :)

Thing is, with pendular suspension, you're not supposed to even need shock absorbers. The purpose of pendular suspension is to ensure that all wheels on the vehicle remain in contact with the ground. Jennifer Clark explains it in her post on her mobile crane. Most 4 wheeled vehicles with pendular suspension only have one axle moving, and the other one fixed. However, there is a method of making with two pendular axles stable. I can't deeplink it right now, dunno why, just look through Mahjqa's Brickshelf gallery. I can tell you that it links the first axle to the second, such that as the front left wheel goes up, the back left one goes down.
