tomdobs55 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 So pretty much everytime I search for a part on bricklink.com and check which sets its in I see something called the First Lego League. What is it exactly? There seems to be a few different themes and each one has roughly 1000 parts. From the looks of it they seem to be very assorted parts packs for competitions maybe. Main question is what is it? I didn't do a search for this because I'm on my phone but if this has already been discussed, mods, please merge or direct me to the proper place. Thanks guys! Quote
JopieK Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 It is a world wide contest with Mindstorms robots for youngsters. The junior edition is for primary education, the FLL for ages till 14 and the First Tech Challenge for 14+. Every year they (read: the legendary mr. Scott Evans) designs a new set. Coming year challenge: Natural Disasters. The new game set will be release at the end of august / beginning of september 2013. Today 7 of my older students will be going to prepare for their challenge as coaches of the new season (what a coincidence that you were asking about it ;)) Quote

Herky Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Anyone heard of this? I saw it on a friend's FB page...described as this: "Focused on building an interest in science and engineering in children agest 6-9, Jr. FLL is a hands-on program designed to capture young children's inherent curiosity and direct it toward discovering the possibilities of improving the world around them. This program features a real-world challenge, to be solved by research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches and the Jr. FLL Core Values, students work with LEGO elements and moving parts to build ideas and concepts and present them for review." He had pics and it looks like it came with a box and in it were parts and a motor and cards and a binder for the educational part for the program. Here is a link I found: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/jr.fll Think this would be pretty cool for kids. Quote
JopieK Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Yups, I like the idea very much! It is not that big as the FLL yet, but a very nice way for primary schools to become involved with the FIRST LEGO League. Quote
