Venkefedo Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The Star Wars universe is big enough to tell loads of stories without already-familiar characters. KOTOR became a huge hit without a single character from the films. Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Just saw "Gathering Forces"; the final episode before the winter break. Definately one of the best so far.....maybe even the best since this one oozes classic SW. Can't wait till the series comes back in january! Quote
Tariq j Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Just seen most of the latest episodes, definitely a good start to the series. I can't wait for the return in January Quote
Nom Carver Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 So, that's it? is the season over? so far it kicked off better than the clone wars (CGI), if it's progress goes similar that show, we may end up pretty good. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 The season is not over. It's taking a break until after all of the holidays, and will return in January. Quote

montgocloud Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 The midseason finale was pretty disappointing. The previous cliffhanger indicated that it would include more of Ezra's backstory, but nope; it seems the writers are stringing us along. What's worse is that some of it is told to certain characters and we don't get to hear it. So the cliffhanger was never really resolved, even though there was a chance to do so... The episode was fun and all but I'm not sure it had enough substance, certainly not as much as the previous episode. Quote
Robianco Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Just watched the first episode after the mid season break and it certainly acted as a starter for the next phase in Ezra's training. More of a link to the OT as well. I must admit after a month or so of a break from the last episode I can't really remember if this character has made an 'appearance' before. I'm still liking it though... I just hope the pace picks up after this episode and we get to see more of the team against the empire and the formation of the Alliance. One thing I did notice from the Rebel's sets. Ezra's speeder has an emblem that looks like a loose version of the Rebel insignia... more of a phoenix logo. It seems to me a definite nod to the Republic rising again like a 'phoenix from the flames' kind of thing while being a real step towards the Starboard insignia we all know and love. Quote
montgocloud Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) I loved the mid-season opener, "Path of the Jedi." The appearance of Yoda and his teachings were very faithful to his portrayal in ESB. It was handled with so much respect. One question though: were lightsaber crystals always called Khyber crystals? Also, didn't the Rebels pull off a heist for Khyber crystals in "Breaking Ranks?" So I guess the Empire was hounding lightsaber crystals? There's a lot of stuff the writers are holding back on us (Ezra's parents, Fulcrum's identity, the supposed importance of Lothal) and I wish they would start giving answers before asking more questions. Kyber crystals are already part of the Star Wars mythology, having made prominent appearances in Star Wars: the Clone Wars. In fact, a story arc that would have likely been the Season 7 Premiere involved a giant Kyber Crystal that, had it not been destroyed, would have likely been used to power the Death Star. Quote

Yeah... I'm wondering where they're going to balance that. It's nice to build things up but they have to let us in on a few things every now and then. There's little hints there that Kanan's path as a Jedi went awry but did he just lose faith or did he do something as a direct loss of that faith that put people's lives in danger? I thought that about the crystals but a little googling shows that they were apparently mentioned as Kaiburr crystals and that's what Luke's sabre had in it. You mean this? Thats the Starbird logo. *snip* Yeah... that's the one... I just think it has a real resemblance to the Rebel Alliance Starbird... and as Sabine leaves it behind as a reminder to the Empire of the team's strikes then it's looking very much like a forerunner to the full alliance symbol. That was the goal of the creators: "I'm probably most proud of the Rebels' phoenix logo. I made it one day on a whim while working on really early versions of the Ghost ship, and it's remained unchanged all the way through marketing. It's meant to hint at the Rebel Alliance symbol that will appear in the later films." ―Chris Glenn, Star Wars Insider 154 Quote
Robianco Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 That was the goal of the creators: Thanks for the quote. I hadn't read that before... glad I wasn't just imagining it and that they've got all these things in their plan for Rebels. Quote

And in fact, it goes a bit deeper than that: Those unfinished episodes are considered part of the official canon, and the "Breaking Ranks" episode of Rebels confirms that the Empire has big plans for the giant Kyber crystals. If just ONE of those crystals packs that much of a punch, imagine what a connected network of them would do..... (*ahem* http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130417042535/starwars/images/4/4d/Dsiipown.png) I absolutely LOVE the dramatic irony at play here: the key component of the weapon of the Jedi is also used to power the greatest weapon of destruction the galaxy has ever seen. Cy_Bored1337 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Hey does anyone think we will get a set with The Lothal Jedi Temple? Minifigures Ezra,Kanan,Inquisitor and maybe Yoda? Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 That would be fantastic, but seeing as Lego tends to not do "playset" type sets for Star Wars very often, I doubt it. Quote

Robianco Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I don't think the temple on Lothal would be a good set at all. I'm not sure we'll ever get a Jedi Temple but if we did I think it's more likely to be the one on Coruscant or maybe even something EU or Sequel Trilogy based rather that the rotating rock that we saw in Rebels. Agreed... If they do make a set of the rotating rock (which strangely reminded me of the rotating Chima spiral mountain), I would expect it to be just the interior, perhaps a corridor or cave tunnel... Quote
Darth Punk Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) It appears everyone's favorite cloud city resident is coming to rebels. http://makingstarwars.net/2015/01/lando-calrissian-next-star-wars-rebels/ Are cloud city sets in our rebel future? Edited January 12, 2015 by Darth Punk Quote

Well, we don't know yet if Cloud City will feature in Rebels.........but I hope it is and the CC set(s) will come soon. PS: In the 1st episode of Rebels Ugnaughts can be seen. EDIT: I'm about to find out.......gonna watch the Lando episode now! EDIT2: seen it. Best episode yet. but no Cloud City...however: a cool spaceship is featured with a villain thats based on not used Jabba the Hutt artwork. Edited January 12, 2015 by Jedi-Bendu Quote

montgocloud Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Oof! This episode was a huge step back in my opinion. It felt extremely unfocused in the conflict. First there was the threat of the Imperials, then the gangster, then the puffpig got loose, then back to Imperials, and then a final fight with the gangster... What annoyed me is that the Imperials didn't really pose a threat. The Rebels weren't in trouble because of the enemy, they were in trouble because their slapstick antics accidentally caused them to turn their cloaking device off. Way too much slapstick in this episode for my taste. One of the only redeemable parts of this episode in my opinion was the return of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. There were some nice character interactions as well; don't' get me wrong, this episode isn't without its share of merits, it just doesn't live up to the quality of Path of the Jedi. Quote
