Governor Mister Phes Posted March 11, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 11, 2007 No, it was the 10th of March. I was just mentioning it was almost the 12th of March where I am, as a matter of fact. Not that it has any signifigance. Quote
Scouty Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Oh. Ok. Since you are nearly a day after than me. Oh lookie. It's 2 a.m., better set my clocks ahead 1 hour. That's not very important, but time is very important! Well, I'll just have to wait and see what happens to the website :capn: . *Sits in chair patiently* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 11, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 11, 2007 I can tell you this much: I had a discussion with a potential registar on the 9th so now I'm waiting on news from him. Meanwhile when I go to www.piratebricks.com it still says "Notice: This domain name expired on 02/10/07 and is pending renewal or deletion" and when I check the domain's availability it says "PIRATEBRICKS.COM is already taken" So Mister Phes *Sits in chair patiently with Imperial Scouts* Quote
Scouty Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Thank you for updating this thread :-P . Well, there's nothing I can say. *Gets a pillow for the long wait* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 13, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 13, 2007 It is annoying because I would like to have had this domain registered a month ago, but that's the price we must pay for me insisting we need a .com :-D Quote
Scouty Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Well, we could be an organization...I mean....we...uhm..are...kind of. We're not commercialing anything...right? Quote
oo7 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 One has to survive hostile grueling bouts of tedious paperwork to officially qualify as a 'Non-Profit Organization'. There are many legal technicallities that would get in one's way and it's not really worth it. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 14, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 14, 2007 Yeah that and .com is more popular... Nobody ever raves about .orgs :-D Quote
tedbeard Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 One has to survive hostile grueling bouts of tedious paperwork to officially qualify as a 'Non-Profit Organization'. There are many legal technicallities that would get in one's way and it's not really worth it. First, this is not accurate as the laws regarding not-for-profit organizations differ greatly in different legal jursidictions. Here in Canada they can be registered provincially or federally. Provincial non-profits require about $50 and 5 members to sign papers. However, the courts in Canada may also recognize unincorporated associations (ie clubs that have not formally registered). Second, this has abolutely nothing to do with registering as a dot.org. If this was the case then we would have to register as a legal business (sole proprietership, partnership or corporation) before we could get a dot.com domain. Domains are chosen by the registrant and neither dot.com nor dot.org are highly regulated so it is really how you see yourself and wish to project to the world. Dot.com says you are a money-making operation and dot.org says you are some sort of not-for-profit entity (club, charity, sports organization, whatever) There are lots of dot.orgs out there and it has no effect whatsoever on their popularity, hit counts or whatever criteria has been suggested to argue against it's use. Dot.com may sound "cooler" to some but that is about it. Third, unless something has changed the .com domain is still on the table so perhaps a little more patience is in order. :) Quote
Scouty Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Yeah that and .com is more popular... Nobody ever raves about .orgs :-D Let's get a .gov! That'd be great! I would prefer a .com. But if we can't get piratebricks.com....then what will we get? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 16, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 16, 2007 Third, unless something has changed the .com domain is still on the table so perhaps a little more patience is in order. :) Things are looking promising for I have received positive news. Let's get a .gov! That'd be great! I would prefer a .com. But if we can't get piratebricks.com....then what will we get? Yes, a .gov - and rightly so, there should be a government department dealing with SYSTEM Pirate LEGO. Quote
