lightningtiger Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Yep, I vote for Unimog as well, I've seen the box in store and it might make me buy my one and only ever Technic set....ouch my wallet...they are over 300 bucks in Oz ! Quote
Sid Sidious Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I have a wide open "which set" question for you all. I have $5USD to spend at Toys R Us, in the form of a gift card, basically. (It's their cash back coupon that's just a flat $5 credit in the form of a barcode that they scan.) I would consider using this coupon toward some set that I really want, but I'm afraid I've essentially bought them all. Oh and I have to do this by Halloween before the coupon thing expires, or these $5 just go to waste. So my question is, what small impulse set can I buy for around $5? I won't use it for CMFs, since I have them all. I usually buy pirates and castle stuff, but I usually use these types of coupons on stuff like Atlantis impulses and City impulses. I usually go for the minifigure accessories or unique parts when doing this, for elements not found in pirate/castle sets or for citizens for my modular buildings display. Any good ideas? Maybe a polybag or something? Either of the Ninjago polybags (the sword glider or bone helicopter) would be a good buy. The smallest alien conquest set (7049) is a good buy since it has 2 minifigs and is only $5. Quote

The smallest alien conquest set (7049) is a good buy since it has 2 minifigs and is only $5. After looking at photos and inventories for a while, I think I'm going to go with 2516 Ninja Training Outpost. I was also looking at 2258 Ninja Ambush, but I already have a polybag with a red ninja (fighting a giant turkey, lol), and I don't need to double up on red ninjas - rather have a black one. I'll also be getting a black scorpion, a bow, and a katana, which is all new to my collection. The rest is gravy. Thanks! Quote
happymark Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Okay. I stopped at BN book store (because of the 40% coupon). but could not decide which one to pick. Thinking about White House. but feel not quite worth it. they also have other architecture sets. they also have some CARS II. but not very interested. They have several CITY Police. but I do not feel impressive. They have HP Hogwarts set. but I already have the castle. They do have Ewok Battle set. Alien attach does not sounds very impressive either. so what to pick? (valuable?) or I should just save some money for year end sale? (I really hope they had CREATOR or TECHNIC sets :( Thanks! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Go for Hogwarts set, it joins the castle and you get a few exclusive figures with it. (yeah, and another Harry - as if we need another right ! ) Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I'd go for a Architecture set since they look fantastic but too expensive, a 40%off would make the sets more appealing Quote

Of all those, I'd go for Hogwarts, especially with the 40% coupon. It's a set I'd love to get, but I feel it's a tiny bit too expensive to justify the purchase. 40% off makes it a no-brainer. And you have the castle, so it's a perfect add-on! Quote

I'd say save your money. It seems like you aren't very impressed by these sets, so wait for a year end sale. Quote

It's a neat build, a lot of diverse parts(ie the pyramid, half track, the scorpion). Of course, the big draw of the set is the Anubis guards, which nobody can argue their awesomeness! I say get it now! Edited November 9, 2011 by Legocrazy81 Quote
Paulo Silveira Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Hello My wife and I dont play with lego for a loooong time. We are 30 years old and we dont have children (yet). We would like to spend some time together with lego. I was looking for some big set, which would take some time. Something challenging. Candidates: The Volkswagen Van 10220, the 10214 Tower Bridge, 10197 Fire Brigade or 10194 Emerald Night Train. I was delighted about the train, but it seems too much work to get the good tracks, all necessary power functions items, and so on. I would like to get a technic too, so we can see what will be our favourite kind of lego. The Excavator 8043 seems to be an opportunity to learn a lot about basic mechanics. Thanks Quote

The only set of your candidates that I own is the Tower Bridge. The build was long but not challenging, more like tedious. The outcome however is something quite astonishing. I would recommend the Fire Brigade Quote
50missioncap Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Emporium vs Pet Shop? I dig the fact that there are two buildings in the pet shop.... Great thread btw. Quote
Cwetqo Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Get Grand Emporium. Its great set and way better than PS. Plus, it will be gone first. Quote

Follows Closely Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Have you built both? I'm really digging the details in the PS... like the back end and such. I enjoyed the pet shop build more. The colors are much more interesting, as I have way too much tan. Quote

Like Closely said, better colors. I like the details of the buildings, like the outside basement doors, thought that was a neat little addition. The build was pretty good as well. A few interesting techniques. Finally, there's a bathroom so people can quit using bushes! Quote

Anyone have any thoughts on the red cargo train? Looked pretty cool at the store, but it's rated fairly low... Quote

I do plan on getting it, but I'm hesitant only because I'm not a huge train collector and I don't really want the tracks/PF stuff. I was debating buying the train on eBay. I saw all the different sections for sale individually. Quote

Lord Of The Fries Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) Hey guys, I have some money and I want to buy some SW sets but I don't know which one to get out of 7915 Imperial V-wing Starfighter or 7956 Ewok Attack. I also want to buy a battlepack and I only have enough money for one so which should I get out of Clone BP or Mandolorian BP? Please tell me in this topic. I have until 20th of November (that's when the sale ends) so please tell me before then. Thanks a lot . Edited November 14, 2011 by Lord Of The Fries Quote

I'm more of a spaceship guy so V-Wing, and you'll have a chance to get scout troopers in next year's battlepacks. I would also get the Clone BP for variety as well as a decent speeder. Hope that helped Quote

I agree with you because Ewok Attack doesn't look that good and the Clone BP has much more variety then Mando BP. Quote
