Redhead1982 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Inspired by Deborah Hingdon's microscale models from The LEGO Ideas Book, I started these mini houses in December with my nephew who was bored with all the snow outside, and a little bit fascinated with my brick collection. As it was pretty late in the evening, I didn't want to start some large build, so we were casually going through the book (his gift to me for my birthday). So these were done in December, but I somehow felt they're not finished and kept the on my bookshelf. The front and the back are similar, with exception of some greenery in the front. Since this was my first build in mini or micro scale, it's nothing special, however, I do like this scale more for its pro's (less bricks and faster building process). Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 One word....cute. Nice mini building there 'Redhead1982' and Brick On ! Quote
Kivi Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Very pretty little houses. The center building is particularly beautiful as its walls are built entirely of plates. It makes it look like being made of microscale bricks. less bricks and faster building process Definitely less bricks in overall, but it still seems to take up quite an amount of certain bricks, if I look just at the dark tan plates in the middle house. jimmynick Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Good job, Redhead1982. The houses look very sweet. On my first look, I thought they were on the same scale as TLG's mini modulars, but I looked closer and saw they're actually much bigger than that. Well done, and build more of these! Quote
Kristel Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 These are really cute! My favourite is the middle one, as it's a nice colour combination with interest details, like the brown trim that extends beyond the windows. I think the plates definitely work better than the bricks at this scale. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Great builds! I was wondering how they compare to the scale of the official mini-modulars. I love mini building and these do not disappoint. Keep up the great work! Quote
caperberry Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Gorgeous! You could experiment with different types of gables too - for some large scale inspiration I highly recommend Patrick Bosman's amazing Amsterdam models . Quote
greg3 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 NIce! I like the variety in the windows, doors and roof details. I've tried making micro-scale buildings and it was a lot harder than I thought!! You've done a good job - looking forward to more!! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Thanks, everyone. This mini builds looks simple, but they still take many bricks to build them. This ones are a bit larger than the official minimodulars. I just got those and realized mine are a bit bigger. I'm thinking of making them a bit smaller to fit in with the official minis. I was wondering how they compare to the scale of the official mini-modulars. Quote
