Hinckley Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Mod note: the rules actually do forbid you from posting PMs from you...to the host. I will update it to reflect that you, of course, can't post private PMs from yourself to other players either. Think about it. It's just trying to circumvent the rule. If people wanted to see both parts of the conversation quoted from each individual, then they would basically be forced to reveal the conversation negating the entire rule.
Gertrude Tincanchew Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 After talking to Krup a little in private, I have to say that I'm feeling less and less inclined to vote for him. His suspicions make no sense and he doesn't seem to be pushing for me not to vote for him like a scum would usually do. I'm thinking he's just a completely confused Townie. I think a scum would make their defense look more perfect and I'm starting to think he contacted so many people so early because he was just a confused Townie and didn't know any better. Like others have said, contacting people so early just seems too strange for an Odor Eater to do. Unvote: Durmudgelous Krup I still think it would be great if Snarky could respond to my comment about his vote for Flabflom whenever he gets back. This is Appeal to Emotion working here, folks. If we back off whenever someone acts confused or apologetic, the scum just have to be clueless and they win. If his suspicions make no sense, call him out on them, don't back down! Lynching is the Town's most important tool, so would you prefer to lynch the scummy fellow who has admitted to lying (Lynch all Liars!) or the guy who screwed up and got some penalty votes on him? In addition, you don't even put your vote down on Snarky, who you suspect, instead leaving it in the air. Saving it for a hammer on a Townie? Your wishy washy voting is pretty scummy. Ping.

No, I'm not unvoting him because of him acting apologetic. I'm unvoting him because he didn't seem to put up a defense that seemed like it would have been made by the scum. It seemed sort of lazy to me, and I think that the scum would try harder to make more perfected defenses. I'm not voting for Snarky yet because I don't think that there's enough evidence to do so, as opposed to Krup who I thought had enough at the time of my vote. And who said I was leaving my suspicion towards Snarky in thin air? I'm waiting for a response, and if I think it's scummy then I'll have the right amount of evidence against him that I think is worth to give him a vote.

Helena Hippopaw Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Durm has been appealing to me in private now too, and i'm asking him to clarify why he thought she was fishing, and she didn't think she fished at all. Until that is cleared up, my vote stays. Paraphrasing is okay, so we need some paraphrased statements they can both agree on, then we can tell better what happened.
Twatty Tittlesteen Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I've been asked to explain a little bit more. I'll paraphrase the conversation he made with me. D- Would you like to get drunk and decide on how to help Harriet? Me- I don't know, I think it is kind of weird to talk so early, but I guess we can chat. D- I'm there for you if you have any issues Me- Your first message sounds like you had a sort of plan. Did you? Why talk to me? D- (Ignoring the first question), Well, I felt comfortable talking to you after reading the day thread. Me- Sure, I guess we'll talk. What are you thinking the scum are doing? D- I think the OE's are the silent ones, because they are too busy metagaming. Probably just being aware and cautious. *Note that Durmudgelous then starts being a bit more vocal in thread* Me- Possibly, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were vocal. But how could they meta if nobody's identities are known? D- Ok, that sounds like a decent idea. Sorry for talking so early. It sounds like he was just trying to be helpful, but some of his statements in PM ended up reading incredibly weirdly. A lot of his posts are just sounding random, and his "defense" seemed like a major Pity Party defense. He hasn't really said anything that truly wants to make me not vote for him,and I think he is the better option for our lynch today. Somebody's (I don't remember who, I got forgetfulnessitis) statements about Wong are pretty interesting, and I have to agree about Snarky and Godric being scummy too, but I thing Durmudgelous is acting really weird. I think he is one of the more scummy people here, and I won't be terribly surprised if he turns up town, as Day 1 lynches are hard to make because just about every time there's a Day 1 lynch, it usually ends up town. It is very rare that Day 1 lynches turn up scum, unless there is a very strong lead, which we don't have. Vote: Durmudgelous Krup (Probably spelled that wrong)
Gertrude Tincanchew Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 No, I'm not unvoting him because of him acting apologetic. I'm unvoting him because he didn't seem to put up a defense that seemed like it would have been made by the scum. The Scum know that perfect defenses are scrutinized heavily and lazy ones are passed off as "confused Townie". Why are you so determined to take pressure off of Krup? Do you want Flabflom, who has been less scummy than Krup, to be lynched? See,s t me like you're trying to deflect attention off of a scumbuddy.
Godric Goaty-Blather Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 This is not a good reason at all... I want to change my vote to you! I don't think there have been. This is it! i will vote for you! Errr..I'm a bit confused here, Helena. You said you're going to vote for me, then you vote for Mr. Krup? Please explain the sudden turn around and unexplained reason for voting for Durmudgelous.
Belinda Bugglesby Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Part of me wants to agree with Twatty that it is weird that early, but then again, it does sort of seem like a good idea to send out random messages to see what sticks. Also, if we voted based on mathematical ability, nobody could vote for me. That would be stupid. Anyway we are slowly running out of time for the day. I sort of want to vote for Lulu just because she has been seemingly silent, but then again also vote for Flabflom just because you have the most votes, but that's only because of a weird penalty these Alien Gods people keep talking about gave you. Vote: Wong Wang I am having a hard time remembering peoples name's or faces. So I'm rather confused, however Wong was standing out to me and then I saw the excellent synopsis by Drubulum. I have to agree with it, and my gut feeling is that something is off. Also, your posts are mostly I sort of feel like voting for this person, but I'll wait. I feel that if you find someone suspicious you should vote for them, so my vote goes to you. Anyway, I am not going to use a vote on Bearbutt, not today. To me, though he has rubbed me the wrong way, he is doing what a good OoTP member would do and question everything. But that could also be the way he could cover up if he is an Odor Eater. I'm going to watch for just a bit longer to decide who I'll vote for. Two hours at the most. It's been way more than two hours I think. Back to work now, potatoes must be prepped for takeoff.
Helena Hippopaw Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Errr..I'm a bit confused here, Helena. You said you're going to vote for me, then you vote for Mr. Krup? Please explain the sudden turn around and unexplained reason for voting for Durmudgelous. I was going to vote for you, then something even stronger came up. I have to follow the conflicting stories for now You are going to be my vote if Durm and Arietty can clear up their stories.
Wong Wang Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Finally, though, I have to point out Wong Wang: She/he started the day out with all the regular crap, but towards the middle of the day he/she started to make some odd comments: That was in reference to the issue with Twatty and Durmudgelous Krup. I don't know what the beginning part was about, but it seems like ridiculous confusion to me and it seems like he(let's settle for "he") is just saying that whether people are quiet or loud they could be wrong about their assumptions. Umm, I don't know what talkativeness has to do with being wrong, but this is a minor thing. This is a ridiculous fluff post that considering how the general talk was switching to more serious issues at the time, just looks like someone trying to be helpful. Basically, it says that a mislynch is bad. We all know that. So are you tryign to help us find a good lynch or what? Of course the Odor Eaters will try to hide things, but the fact is that the more we get them to talk, the more likely they are to slip up. Wang then goes on to say that she's, basically, afraid to lynch because she thinks we will get a Penis Orderly, but then that we can't not lynch. And refreshes our memory as to why we can't. This is helpful...not. She then talks about her need to repeat what others say in order to remember. Is this a character trait? Possibly, but I doubt it. If you want to remember, you are free to read the post as many times as you like. I'm sorry, but when you repeat yourself and others a lot, it looks like you're just trying to eat up space in an attempt to look useful. Yep! You look really scummy right about now. Another worthless post that it seems is supposed to explain something, but really doesn't explain anything. So the two most suspicious people she finds is Lulu because she's quiet (I guess I can respect that, sort of) and Flabflom because he has the most votes against him. Trying to jump on Snarky's "bandwagon" here and find a few friends to join you. Why would you want to vote for someone who has the most votes when you don't seem to have found anything scummy about them? If you have found something scummy, do share. No, you didn't say you are going to vote for him, but you did say that you want to. I think I've said enough. For now I'll vote: Wong Wang. Seems one of if not the best leads to me. You meant to say: Wong is my best friend! Right? No? Anyway I can agree with your logic against me all accept for the part when it comes to Flabflom and and Snarky. Yes I did say that Flabflom has (though maybe D has more at the moment) the most votes, but that's only because of the Alien Overlord gave 6 punishments out to him and Snarky decided to vote for Flabflom. I admit that I have not found anything scummy on Flabflom. I only said I may vote for him because he has so many votes, and not by a bandwagon. In this democracy of death, as one has called it earlier, we can vote, we all know that. Yet, the voting, as is directly democratic and not an electoral college (something some people in a story came up with), can become evenly split amongst the voters, or even take votes away. Let's say there are two people running for the leader of the Order of the Penis, and one is clearly winning. But if a third person comes in and gains enough traction, that person could pull enough votes away from the original frontrunner and then bring both of them down, leaving the second candidate a lead to become the leader. There are some other examples of this in stories (something about some bull and a moose and I want to say a bear) as well as some store who took some votes from some blood thing and somehow some foliage won something. those are some interesting stories I'll have to share later. While I am sure this has not changed your mind, hopefully you can at least understand where I am coming from in regard to Snarky and Flabflom. But anyway, I Vote: Durmudgelous Krup Why? he has the word mud in his name (and mud can ruin my math papers). In all seriousness, I vote Krup because something is going weird with him, the numbers in my body can feel it.
Helena Hippopaw Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Durm has been throwing potatoes at me, and I keep replying, say it in thread (I have now said it a fourth time to him, we'll see if he listens). Explain it in thread. If he can't publicly defend himself, I can't see my vote changing.
Catalina Kittywhisker Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 The Scum know that perfect defenses are scrutinized heavily and lazy ones are passed off as "confused Townie". Why are you so determined to take pressure off of Krup? Do you want Flabflom, who has been less scummy than Krup, to be lynched? See,s t me like you're trying to deflect attention off of a scumbuddy. I'm having second thoughts about him being scum, that's why. I know what you're saying about scum making lazy defenses, but Krup's come off to me as incredibly lazy, dumfounded statements that I don't think any scum would make. When did I say I wanted Flabflom lynched? I questioned Snarky for voting for Flabflom after he made the mistake of editing his post, not Flabflom. Anyway, I'm "deflecting the attention" off of Krup because I don't seem him as scummy as I did before. I'm not going to vote for someone who I think may not be scum. If you're so certain that Krup is scum, then great, keep your vote to him, but I don't think he is. The bandwagon against him is growing anyway, and if he's lynched I'll still be curious to see what he comes up as.
Purplonia Pink Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I've been following the action today and I must say that I am not surprised to see the vote spread out as it is; there are some very particular behaviours and comments! I think I will Vote: Durmudgelous Krup I know what I said earlier about Krup but in light of the new information and Krup's apparent reluctance to express his opinions in thread, this seems like a valid vote to cast!
Durmudgelous Krup Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Alright. I am going to come clean and it will be up to you guys to come to an informed decision. I understand that the first day will be all fluff so I decided to take the initiative, throw a few pms around and see what responses I get. Hopefully I can find some solid evidence for you guys to rely on. I didn't know it will turn awry this way, if you get what I was doing, it was meant to be good . Secondly, I admit I wasn't serious with my defences, I was still in fluff-mode, and that attracted a lot of attention. Now that I am awake, its all good for me. Thirdly, I am not suspicious of Ariattny, I have nothing against her, I just felt necessary to clear the air with her as to who did what at what time. I guess I did it the bad way. For what is true, Arriattny claimed he knew my true identity, but did not specifically say who. I see that as fishing for information, which I thought was against the rules. So I called him out. I do not wish my lynch be a bandwagon the Odors can pile onto. I hope all of these will address all your doubts about me.

Stop back pedaling and rationalizing your erratic behavior with weak, contentless defenses. If you're scum, you're doing such a shoddy job defending yourself that you are actually making people think you're town. Great job. If you're town, I expect more effort to go into your game than posting random crap even when the pressure starts on you. If you aren't lynched today, I will be seriously disappointed in the town.

Vote: Durmudgelous Krup[\b]

You have done that to Catalina, and you are just criticizing based on nothingness, maybe you are trying to throw cold slippery potatoes to see if anyone got a shiver. I know your behavior is most likely Town, but you are barking up the wrong tree. There are more suspicious animals around. You want me to name them so I do all the. work for you? Alright: Twatty - refused to listen what I have to say, adamant that my behavior is scum. Her reluctance to listen to what I have to say is definitely scummy. Her reasons for voting me? I am weird. Wow that's a really good argument. Same goes for Wong: I am weird, so he voted for me. Wow clap clap. Godric: same as Twatty, couldn't even lift his goat ears to listen to what I have to say. Adamant that I lied, apparently he didn't read the whole thread properly. That's not Town behavior. If they are all Town, why didn't you criticize them for not making a better argument for their vote? If they are all Town, they should at least attempt to know what's going on from me. Their swift decisiveness really smelt like Odor i.e. can't wait to get rid of me. Think about it.
Hinckley Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 vote tally Boris Biddlesdorf: 1 vote (Ariattny Sugarbottom) Flabflom Flimflam: 7 votes (penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty, Snarky Snickerpuss) Lulu Pittoolo: 1 vote (Barkonius Twitch) Durmudgelous Krup: 10 votes (Nicholas Dickory, Godric Goaty-Blather, Rutherford Habblabble-Bibble, Boris Biddlesdorf, Gertrude Tincanchew, Orion Kettleboil, Helena Hippopaw, Twatty Tittlesteen, Wong Wang, Purplonia Pink) Bartholomew Bearbutt: 1 vote (Dillpickle Catterweed) Wong Wang: 2 votes (Drubulum Panck, Belinda Bugglesby)

Vote: Durmudgelous Krup[\b] Same goes to you Firuz, you came in and say this isn't looking good, I can say He/She/It, it doesn't matter, you are picking on me, and voted for me because of a typo. wow. that's not Town behavior. If I am voted for a typo, you should then get 5 penalty for not bolding your vote.

The new coming clean added another reason. As for the typo, it would mean nothing in a normal game where we knew everyone's muggle names ... My vote will be fixed later.
Durmudgelous Krup Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I hope I have explained myself clear enough. Scum would love my kind, because I am attracting a lot of attention to myself. If you are Town, take a look at the quiet ones, it's obvious isn't it. If it is not clear enough, I did not wake up until I realized I am in trouble for my sloth and 'weirdness'. I have already gotten a few votes by that time. Now I am really appealing to the Town to make an informed decision.

And as for why I don't question anyone who voted for you: Lynch all Liars. This is the third time I've said it, now. You have yet to provide adequate explanation for misleading us, so their votes are justified. Catalina removed pressure from you when you gave a defense that she herself said was lazy and confusing. In private, without so much of a paraphrase of why she thought it was more townie than scum, or who you were suspicious of (and she says that those people don't make sense to suspect, also!) So why was she easing off on you if you weren't making sense?! Talk about anti-town behavior.
Orion Kettleboil Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Every fiber of my being wants to unvote. Durmy, why did you say Sugarbottom had been fishing when she denies it completely?
