SNIPE Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Hi, Can the Lego 8880 really steer and turn @ 90 degrees ( or thereabouts) as it says in the manual, it can but i'm not sure it can if it can, great , Edited March 25, 2013 by SNIPE Quote
Conchas Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 No! That image just explains how you should correctly align/assemble the parts in that step, to have both front and rear wheels properly aligned when not steered. Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Nope, it would be too much for the u-joint. http://www.technicopedia.com/8880/8880steering.gif Quote
SNIPE Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Oh right Since its on a ball joint (looks like a gear) at the front that locks with the grey wheel hub spindle i thought it would. Edited March 25, 2013 by SNIPE Quote
rumpletump Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 The 90 degrees is referring to the set-out and alignment required in the step (as Conchas said), so all the wheel mounting hubs are perpendicular to the chassis at the same time. It will not steer anywhere near that angle Quote
Lipko Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Nope, it would be too much for the u-joint. http://www.technicop...880steering.gif Actually there is no U-joint there, it's a ball-gear in a special wheel hub. From Techniclopedia: Quote
davidmull Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Why do u want 90 degrees? It's would be pointless and unrealistic! Quote

Well then it would be too much for the ball gear Why do u want 90 degrees? It's would be pointless and unrealistic! So you can park sideways easier! Quote
