About a year ago, I moved from Chicago to Paris, France, and while I couldn't bring my collection with me (just a small bag of bricks and some minifigs), I definitely miss the fun of hanging out with fellow AFOLs.

As such, does anyone know of any Paris-based LUGs? I tried searching around, but nothing immediately popped up.

Hey!

There is this one:

http://www.freelug.org/

I am a member of this lug, and it is cool. We are are about 200 members from all over France (I am in Lille) but a few members (including the president) live in Paris. We talk by a mailing list (no forum), and Freelug organises some exihibitions, members meet there, or at restaurants or at home. Thanks to the events it organises Freelug has access to the lugbulk. There is no monthly or weekly meetings, this is more random.

What you call a lug in the USA, is in France necessarily under the status "association 1901". This might explain why you had difficulty to find one, because the french lugs don't call themselves "lugs" but "association". :-)

I am new in this association (Lug ;-) ) but if you want to join us I am sure you will be welcome :-)

I can forward your mail to the president for you if you want!

Take care!

:-)

Hi and welcome to France, I would like to introduce you to our Lug based in the south of Paris called Festi'briques-ÎDF. We are near all people round Paris and you're welcome to join us at a 100%LEGO event on 4&5th of May 2013 in Mennecy (about 30km from Paris) if you want some more information about this event you can get them here :http://www.festi-idf.fr/ or for the Lug : festibriques.fr . Some of us are fluently speaking english ;-) so hope to see you soon.

You can also take a look at the other existing french Lugs like FreeLug or Fanabriques. I think they will let you an answer here soon.

Hi,

FreeLUG is a short for "french enthusiast LEGO user LUG". (I'm also a member)

Sounds like we're not so much into french speaking as we choose a pun in english to give our club a name... :-)

That's also true that frenchies are not the best in the world at speaking english.

Anyway, feel free and comfortable to contact us in english : we actually have different means of communication :

- Chatroom. There is a weblink at the www.freelug.org mainpage but we usually prefer to use Xchat (#freelug at irc.freelug.org hosted by freenode.net)

- Mailing list - one is public, you don't have to be a member to join : http://lists.freelug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/freelug-general

- Live : our scheduled events are compiled here : http://freelug.org/spip.php?page=agenda&id_rubrique=5&annee=2013&mois=03

FreeLUG is a nation wide club - I'm myself from Lyon - but you're lucky, there are tons of friendly members in Paris area ;-)

Welcome - Wish you a nice stay in France.

Hi there,

Also member of FreeLUG since a few years, I wish you a pleasant stay in France, and in the lug of your choice.

I'm living in Noisy le Grand (on the A4/RER A, just between Paris and Disneyland). If you come this side, feel free to visit me ! (send me a private message for coordinates)

You'll also be able to see us in a couple of events in the area, see FreeLUG's website for dates and places, but Kid'Expo and Japan'Expo/Comi'con are the most close of Paris, as far as I know.

Glad to see you.

May the bricks be with you !

No problem with the "terrible" mistakes. Funny you don't like subjonctif - in fact very few french like subjonctif - the truth would be to say that most of the french dislike subjonctif.

In fact, what is subjonctif ? (seriously, I had to google it to remember).
