CorneliusMurdock Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 When I saw that FBTB was having a vignette contest, I knew I had to enter. Normally they only do vehicles and space ships which I suck at building. I vignette I can do. This is only inspired by the scene in the first movie, not taken directly. Mostly because it worked out better to have two other turtles holding Mikey up and then I didn't have to be completely true to the look of the scene. I imagine this sort of thing happens pretty regularly for the Turtles anyway. A couple of things that would have made this better would be a decorated pizza box (if only I had the sticker sheet for the Shellraiser...) or a torso for the delivery man that has a pizza on it (which I unfortunately don't own). "Terrific. Where's 122 1/8?" "You're standing on it, Dude." Ha! The ad at the bottom of the page while I'm typing this up is for Domino's Pizza. How appropriate. Quote
Spider-Man Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Awesome vig! I really like how the sewer grate turned out, the building facade (details ), and the quotes are great Great work Cornelius! Quote
Kintobor Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Instantly recognizable! Although I do believe Raph wasn't in that scene, only Donnie and Mikey. Oh well, still very cool! Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Instantly recognizable! Although I do believe Raph wasn't in that scene, only Donnie and Mikey. Oh well, still very cool! I did say loosely based. ; ) Quote
The Penguin Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Now, isn't it ingenious? Outstanding how you have managed to use the (somewhat) weird faces of the turtles perfectly in this MOC! I love the amount of details here, love how "clean" the scenery is. It is always obvious when a MOC has been created with care and attention, and your's is definitely an example of one. Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
Vindicare Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Great scene! I remember it well. I love your parking meters. The faces for the Turtles are perfect for the scene. The building facade is well done too and has some nice details. Good luck in the contest. Quote
Omicron Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Wise man say "Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza." Good job on this scene. :P -Omi Quote
ManInATopHat Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Nice little MOC! Nice details, also with a little funny twist. Nice! Quote
Darkdragon Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I love it. Fig design and posing is just perfect. Can't get enough Turtles. :) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I like your vignette CorneliusMurdock. Maybe it might of been good to see another sene with the turtels eating the pizza? Quote
Zachattacx Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Great vignette CorneliusMurdock The overall vignette is fantastic, that sewer water effect is great, NPU of the blue fire bit. The brick columns also give way to a fantastic sewer. The building is very nicely put together too. Overall fantastic build.Good luck in that contest ;) Quote
Luke Styer Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Excellent MOC overall, but I want to particularly call out those parking meters, a small detail that really adds to the verisimilitude. The building facade is really great as well. I wouldn't mind seeing it expanded into a full-fledged building. Quote
legolegolegolego Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 The parking meters really stand out. Well done overall - Michael Quote

jimmynick Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Very nicely built! The contrasting colours on top and bottom are great, and I like the little details on the front of the building. Quote
King Aragorn Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Amazing MOC and cool scene from the movie! Quote
Speedboat Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Very nice! I didn't think much of the theme when I saw the sets from the first wave, but apparently it is worth a second look. I really like the clean execution of this build and all the cool little details like the water outflow and the red and tan bricks used to build the sewer section. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I considered entering that contest, but I don't have time to build anything. Your build, on the other hand, is brilliant! I wouldn't be surprised if you won. I love the use of pieces and Turtle faces. That was one of my favorite movies growing up, so I'm glad to see it recreated here. Great piece usage, and I agree about the building facade. Way to knock it out of the park! Quote
Cecilie Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I think this is very true to the original scene, I instantly recognized it! Nice job Quote
