lightningtiger Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) The tiger fires his final shot in this showdown........ Caltex Service Station Well a picture is worth a thousand words, I love the open back design and just adding little pieces of the real world makes it pop a little more. I can now move this building over to New Mannum, so yes this is final 'Aussie BJ' and good luck to my fellow combatants......Brick On ! Edited March 14, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
rriggs Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Very nice. Really like the brick built canopy and the classic town feel to the whole thing - and of course the usual high quality and detailed LT shop fittings and stock are the finishing touch! Cheers Rog Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Thanks for the positive feedback 'gazumpty' and 'rriggs', I have finished the move to NM for the servo now.....final exterior trim for the driveway area going in at the moment. I wonder how everybody else's projects are rocking and rolling at the moment ? Quote
ER0L Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Great Caltex Station LT! I think what I love most here is that row of small windows - simple but stylish. I also love the SNOT roof and the annex. The open back is a nice idea, didn't think of that ... Great details inside, too. Good luck! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Thanks 'ER0L', I have always being a fan of open back designs.....I'm too old school classic town I guess ! I look forward to your design 'ER0L'. Quote
rriggs Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I wonder how everybody else's projects are rocking and rolling at the moment ? I think I will start mine this weekend. Probably not open back and no idea what brand but we'll see... Cheers Rog Quote
Aussie BJ Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Very nice as usual LT. Really looks good in New Mannum too. I haven't had a chance to look at my entry in the past few days. Still plenty of time though. Quote
Zed_43 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) Nice station! I like the country spirit of your MOC! Also like your oil cans! I've been using the same technique for my city garage since I saw it on brickshelf! Your extinguisher is really well thought too! I think i'm gonna reuse your design in future MOCs (but not for this contest^^)! Edited March 14, 2013 by Zed_43 Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Nice one Tigger, love the mix of the large windows and the little 2x2 ones! Quote
SwissBrick Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Hi lightningtiger, eventhough I am not a fan of open back buildings, your entry is absolutely great, lots of small details, nice building techniques, but mostly an overall design that brings a lot of atmosphere (by that I mean that I can almost hear the minifig's conversations..). Great job and cheers from switzerland. BTW: What is the truck delivering, I have an idea but am not sure..? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) Thanks everyone for your positive vibes.....even from my fellow combatants ! You may or may not have noticed the small structure to the left of the shop......built slightly different than even the CO-OP Agro Centre......I like trying different things.....Brick On ! Edit - Oh, that on the back of the truck is a tank for either water or farming chemicals as it's in the country. Also the entry is inspired by an actual petrol station in Port Lincoln SA that is actually a Caltex ! Edited March 14, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I like your service station. I like how you made the jerry cans, simple but effective. Quote
michaelozzie Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Great servo LT. Brings back memories. Only thing I see is missing is a little warming oven with meat pies and sausage rolls Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Thanks 'Alasdair' and 'michael', now stop giving me ideas for a sneek-attack will you ! Mmmm, a microwave oven and a rack of pies.....oh, yeah a coffee machine too...... .......have I really fired my final shot ? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Here is a shot of inspiration......... Link to my latest New Mannum page to see how my entry looks now.....http://www.eurobrick...pic=80107&st=25 Brick On everyone ! Edited March 17, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
Andy D Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Great entry! It reminds me of the small town USA serice stations. I guess they are the same the world over. You put lots of Very nice details as always. Good luck in the contest! Andy D Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks 'Andy D', yeah I guess most 1950's/60's servos look similar across the globe....it was that era of modernism to everything.....a little bit of the USA in each corner of the world replacing the Britsh Empire as the inspiration for building/town planning. solta Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Nice service station. Small but efficient. I love all the details that you used on this MOC. Great work. Quote

LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Nice work lt. I hadn't heard of a Caltex before, at first I thought it was a Texaco. A quick google cleared that up. It looks good on the corner of your street! Good luck in the contest Quote

Good luck in the contest Thanks 'LGB', I always try and go for original ideas with my designs.....and since I have done BP and Shells in the past I thought something different. Brick On everyone ! lightningtiger Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 My final shot from my forces....hopefully hits the target.......addition of vent pipes.....no servo is complete with out them ! Don't let my wife's lace curtains fool you at all......Brick On Battle On ! Quote
rriggs Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) In the last picture it looks good but are you not stretching the 32x32 limit now? Fine for New Mannum but a little unfair in the comp to include a picture with the extra roadway and fencing attached..... Cheers Rog Edited March 28, 2013 by rriggs Quote
Tarpal Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The rule is 32x32 max right??? Will be good to stick to the rules! Any smaller is fine right??? Quote
