piterx Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hey guys! yesterday i discovered on youtube some lego rally videos... It's been amazing watching them with some friends of mine! But then we got disappointed by the lack of videos...i mean how can be something that funny be so rare? It seems that only est european guys do such things :P and im not talking about trial that to me is slow and boring...im talking of something like this it would be amazing if there were more of these videos and more of these "competitions" :P Quote
shadowhearth Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I love it. Looks fun. Though is there some sort of motor restrictions? I noticed some people using wired control. whats that all about? Quote
piterx Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 i think they use wired control for two reasons: weight and sun....the IR controller tends to fail when you're under the sun lol but there are some other videos with IR vehicles too....god only knows how much i'd like to partecipate at one of those rallies! :P Quote
timslegos Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I would love to participate in an even like that but sadly I am the only Lego Technic builder in my area. tim Quote
piterx Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 yeah i've tried to look for italian builders but i dont know where to find 'em....even if i saw on my blog that there are some italian guys going there :( Quote
clarkdef Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 My new RC car is pretty good, definatly could compete and it's wicked fun! More fun than a bought RC car. I think we should all petition Lego to bring out the older type RC models again. Quote
piterx Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 oh yeah! i'd love having rc units! at the beginning of the second week of april i'll start building my own rally car :D i can't wait eheh do you know why lego interrupted RC models production? Quote
clarkdef Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Probably sales being too low, they might of been very expensive for what they were. Who knows. Quote
SNIPE Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Lego falls to bits so parts likley get lost in the dirt. Quote
piterx Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 It depends on how you build them...and im dont think videos are sped up, some of them are slowed down Quote
Strikeman Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I like this I also don't think the videos have been sped up; if you look at the working of the shocks & the jumps some of these vehicles make, it suggest they are actually traveling at a decent speed. If it'd been crawlers that were sped up you wouldn't see them jump up that much. Quote
piterx Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 We should definitely start building performant vehicles :P Quote
shadowhearth Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Do they all use RC buggy motors? I wonder can you get better speed by gearing up L or XL motors. Quote
piterx Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 I think the best solution would bex l motors with remote gearbox Maybe rc and gearbox could be insane eheh Maybe rc and gearbox could be insane eheh Quote
750ACE Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Some are using 4 xl motors or Rc motors in the trucks. Dual battery packs and direct wired from the controls. Wish I could find a wiring diagram. Quote
piterx Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 I guess theyre using all those motors because they dont have any gearbox Quote
