autorazr Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Max's Interceptor, my first attempt at replicating a famous car. Max and Ironbar (Thunderdome) Quote
Captain Settle Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Nice MOC. I've never seen mad max but the car looks good. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Not sure how far this classifies as sci-fi, because, while the the source (No idea where this is from, although I've heard of it) may be sci-fi, this doesn't seem much more sci-fi than a monster truck. Pretty good MOC, though. Quote
autorazr Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 @DraikNova, watch Mad Max, The Road Warrior and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. I can see how it might not appear to be sic fi, as its mostly a car, but the movies are sci fi classics. They are a lot like Blade Runner in that the visual style has been reproduced many times throughout fiction and even music, like in the form of Tupac's California Love video. I will say that personally I think Thunderdome, the third movie, isn't that great. Also theres no better time to watch these as they are currently in production of a remake starring Tom Hardy. Sooooo, Idk, I'd say a recreation of something from an iconic sci-fi movie mostly about cars, would count. But let me say this also, this is a WIP and perhaps a more grandiose scene containing dystopian characters and battle cars and such would definitely count, and that may just be what im working on. Only Sinner Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I loved the Mad Max movies and it's so cool that you did this! Quote
Praiter Yed Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I have quite mixed feelings about your Intercepter; on the one hand I feel it needs to be sleeker to match the source material, but on the other hand I do actually like the slightly boxy look. The flat bonnet and sides, wheel arches and the two 2x2 slopes as a windscreen give the whole build a retro Lego feel that imo suits the subject matter. I have no mixed feelings about your custom figs though - they both look great and the Qui-Gon mullet works brilliantly for Max! I look forward to seeing your "more grandiose scene'. Quote
autorazr Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 @Praiter Yed. I know what you mean, its mostly my style of building, I prefer to use more traditional pieces, simple bricks and plates, as most of my parts come from older sets. It's a stylized interpretation, meant to be more blocky. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Not bad work on either the car or the figures.......what no Tina Turner character ? Brick On...beyond Thunderdome ! Quote
