Chromeknight Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) What effect would sealing have on Reno? Sealed- the target is unable to cast spells or use healing abilities for the next three rounds or until the effect is remedied. I assume it's aimed at blocking ether use (which Reno doesn't have), but I thought I'd check. Keep holding those guards off boys. Make sure you keep both of them occupied. Nerwen hands the Ruby to Hesita Nemo attacks Reno from the front row using the Ship in a Bottle Hestia takes the Ruby from Nerwen Hestia casts a Fire spell at Reno from the back row Battle Order Guts attacks Pizarro; Lifestealer Guts attacks IF Pizarro alive THEN Pizarro, ELSE Cortez; Lifestealer Guts attacks IF Pizarro alive THEN Pizarro, ELSE Cortez; Lifestealer Eric suggested - attacks IF Pizarro alive THEN Pizarro, ELSE Cortez; Godricsleif Eric suggested - attacks IF Cortez alive THEN Cortez ELSE No attack; Godricsleif Nemo attacks Reno; Ship in a Bottle >Nerwen gives the Ruby to Hesita >Hestia takes the Ruby to Nerwen >Hestia spell at Reno; Fire Khorne, if you'd rather I didn't suggest actions for Eric in the battle order, say so and I'll leave them off. I know it gets tricky with different timezones and so on, and I don't want to make you feel like you're just rubber-stamping what has been put down already, but that you get to make your own calls. Also, for this round I've suggested it so if there are no guards left (which is possible) Eric won't attack Reno. Also, I didn't suggest healing since Eric's got roughly a 6% chance of taking damage, and Nerwen's shield is predicated on a hurt party anyway. Feel free to potion up or ask for healing though. Hestia can heal you if you ask. Edited March 15, 2013 by Chromeknight Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I assume sealing also doesn't work because it's an effect as well. Usually sealed enemies can't do their specials. "Hestia, focus on cracking the skull of Cortez, the return from taking the gem is little." And why would Eric not attack Reno? A single hit won't kill him. Quote
Chromeknight Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I assume sealing also doesn't work because it's an effect as well. Usually sealed enemies can't do their specials. "Hestia, focus on cracking the skull of Cortez, the return from taking the gem is little." And why would Eric not attack Reno? A single hit won't kill him. I hadn't considered the 'immune to effects'. Scratch another strategy. I had thought that a Prophet required a gem for their sheild ability. I've reread it, it's optional, and since I have no amethyst loose, you're probably right, it's not worth the effort. As for Eric not attacking Reno, roleplaying. I know it screws with the battle and harms the party, but I'll argue that decision in character, Nerwen to Eric, rather than use the Party Leader role to act counter to how Khorne has played his character so far. The raider is right my Lady, this gem does not add to your power. Let us focus on Reno. Nerwen attacks Reno from the back row with her Magical staff Hestia attacks Reno, twice from the front row with the mourning star Battle Order Eric suggested - attacks Cortez; Godricsleif Eric suggested - attacks Cortez; Godricsleif Guts attacks Pizarro; Lifestealer Guts attacks Pizarro; Lifestealer Guts attacks Pizarro; Lifestealer >Nerwen attacks Reno; magical staff Nemo attacks Reno; Ship in a Bottle Hestia attacks Reno; mourning star Hestia attacks Reno; mourning star If Guts goes after Eric, there's no concern that Eric will not have a valid target. And Guts doesn't need conditional actions since if his target is dead it switches to the next in order, ie Pizarro > Cortez > Reno. Hestia is aiming at Reno since it's unlikely that after five lucky attacks either of the guards will be standing. Quote

Khorne Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I have no problem with you suggesting attacks, ChromeKnight. You're doing great . I'm glad you include my roleplaying-made character decisions into working out a strategy. Like you've said, I'd rather refrain from fighting Reno directly. Eric was getting too worked up in the fight to notice the hit he had taken. Some rings of his chainmail got shattered, but overall not much damage was done. With a sorry look Eric's eyes met those of Reno during the fight, but the Nord quickly looked aside and battered away at one of the Bonaparte soldiers. The fact that you call them your friends only makes things worse for you. Magellan, you owe your life to me, I will be taking it back." Eric took his eyes of his adversaries and looked at Guts. "What utter load of nonsense is that? He owes you his life? What for? The guy doesn't owe you a damn thing." Angrily he sheathed his sword and threw his hands in the air. Eric shook his head and stepped away from the battle. Inside, he was torn. Stepping away from a fight is a coward's solution. Apparently, he seemed to have adapted one of the lowliest Southern fighting tactics during his stay in the "Free" City. Eric had abandonned his warband and thereby defied the leader's authority. It made him feel sick, but the Nord couldn't see any other option. He sternly looked at Nerwen and grimaced. "This city needs change and I refuse to participate in taking out its only hope any longer, despite your orders, Elf." There was no possibility of saving the situation any more, but at least Eric wouldn't have Reno's blood on his hands. This whole situation confused the Nord. Why couldn't the people in the South settle things in a normal way? Let both brothers fight to the death, the survivor inheriting the House. Right now, Eric loathed the South more than he had ever done before. But there wasn't anything he could do about it. The Nord threw one, rare, apologetic look at Reno and then stood idle and in silence, watching how the battle ended. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) In a surprisingly calm voice, Guts said: "Couple of months ago, group of angry people... led by a hired Nord, not unlike you..." Guts touched the greatsword strapped to his back that was a trophy from that battle with his free hand. "...attacked the Bonapartes, this poor excuse for a guard was with them. Had we not intervened, he would have been ripped to shreds." Guts chuckled coldly, he had expected the Nord to make this move much earlier. He should have thrown that knife back then. "Must say, you are predictable, Nord. There are only two types of people that leave the Northern Lands, cowards, and traitors." Edited March 17, 2013 by Scubacarrot Quote

After the final blow, Reno Bonaparte slouched to the ground, and a pool of blood started spreading under him. "Hestia, use that lantern of yours, quickly! He's fading away..." "No, my dear. Just let him go." "But... he's my only brother! I will find a suitable punishment for him for his crimes, but this cannot be it!" "It is over, my beloved. No more second chances. This madness has gone too far, now it has to stop. This is best for all of us." Tears filled up the admirals eyes. "I did not even say goodbye to him... Or tell how sorry I am it ended up like this..." Hestia hugs her husband, then turns to the heroes. "Excuse me, I have to tend to my husband. I will return to you shortly, just don't leave the fortress. You can keep the sword, and I'd appreciate if you would investigate that glowing eye that Reno got." The Bonapartes leave the office, leaving the party alone with the corpses. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 "Hm." The raider sheaths his blade after wiping off the blood from the last two strikes, then squats down at Reno's body, making sure his back does not face Eric. He turns the body around. Quote
Sandy Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 He turns the body around. Blood spills from the gushing wounds in Reno's body as Guts turns it. His normal eye is glazed and staring dead ahead, but the other eye is still glowing faintly. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Guts sighs, and mumbles: "Well..." He takes out his Hollow Dagger and attempts prying out the eye-thing. Quote
Chromeknight Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Nerwen looks over to Eric. The blood ritual had healed her hurts but not quietened the forboding sense of things moving beyond her control. Speaking to the Nord while Guts inspected the corspe of Reno, she said quietly. You turned your back on me. Others have done that before from fear or reverence, but I expected neither of you. Whatever Reno was to you before, he had clearly made a deal with something that gave him that eye. Can you say what the price he paid was, and whether it meant good or ill for the city? Nerwen held up her hand No matter, that is beside the point. The question is, what shall I do with you? A man of the north who wraps himself in pride and ferocity like a fur. Turning from battle, would your old companions given you a share of the spoils after? What have you to say? Quote
Sandy Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 QM Note: I'm still waiting for the battle spoils to be divided. Guts sighs, and mumbles: "Well..." He takes out his Hollow Dagger and attempts prying out the eye-thing. The glowing eye pops out of its socket with ease. As it rolls on the floor, Guts immediately sees that it is made of metal and glass. Picking up the orb, he finds a trident symbol carved on the other side of it. Quote
