Mile85 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 so, what do you think about this...? I made this about ten years ago and I was 12 years old back then.. I have a few more of these... pirate themed etc. Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Ever considered building this in LEGO? Quote
Mile85 Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 Ever considered building this in LEGO? yep.. but I didn't have enough money back then to just buy a lot of gray lego bricks.. so I had to make my own mountain ;-) Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Back then you say? Do you have the money or the bricks by now? And what about the pirate themed ones? Quote

I got lots of lego bricks now but not enough to built this like I want to build it. Nowadays, it's about the time, not the money... and I have 5 pirate mountains if I remember correctly.. I don't have pictures of them yet..This was the first that I saw when I searched my attic.. Quote
oo7 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 When I saw Mr. Tiber's most I was sure he would comment on the "Pirate themed". I'm surprised that made it's way into only the second post! So, what did you construct this monolith with, Miles? It looks pretty nice with the realistic looking curves in the weathered looking rock. *y* Quote

Brick Miner Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 though it doesn't look much like a western mine, i like it. LEGO used non-LEGO "props" in their box art, and i could definitely see something like this making a good addition to a LEGO scene or set up. my only concern with something this size, is that it might over-power the LEGO elements. where as smaller non-LEGO elements, such as boulders or foliage would make great additions. all-in-all great job for a 12 year old. - BrickMiner Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Very creative M85. I think that it's a neat concept. Do you still have this? I think that having some color might have really enhanced the overall mine. Quote

Photo is taken 2days ago... actually this photo does not represent the real colours of the mine, it's more darker and more yellow, I used too much light when I took the photos.. But what colours should I add to this mine? I just don't see green colour fitting in desert... And I was planning to paint my mountains, but I was afraid that I just ruin them, I'm not good at painting anything.. I painted my first mountain though, it's ok I think. though it doesn't look much like a western mine, i like it.LEGO used non-LEGO "props" in their box art, and i could definitely see something like this making a good addition to a LEGO scene or set up. my only concern with something this size, is that it might over-power the LEGO elements. where as smaller non-LEGO elements, such as boulders or foliage would make great additions. all-in-all great job for a 12 year old. - BrickMiner I have boulders and foliage too :-P Quote

I just don't see green colour fitting in desert...actually, there is quite a bit of green in the american deserts... its a living desert, not a lifeless sand dune ;-) i just took a winter vaction to AZ earlier this month. i did some mountain climming and visited some cowtowns while i was there. it's really amazing how dense the foliage is... for example, i had no idea there were saguaro forests 8- Quote
Norro Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I'd love to see that in lego! A very nice solution. I an remember building a hideout for my western gang out of rocks when I was young... God Bless, Nathan Quote

exo attack Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 This looks really good. It looks the perfect size for minifigs and the shape is brilliant. I think it would look better painted, maybe beige and brown. Wow...and you made this only when you were 12! Great work! *y* Quote
