Redhead1982 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I was asked to contribute to a Western diorama that is in progress of our local LUG. Since this is my first build in the Western setting, I made it pretty simple. In addition to an almost dry tree beneath the main building, I added a smaller hut for more private use (toilet). C&C is welcome. Quote
Andy D Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 This is a very nice Old West building. The addition of the out building is great for a completion of the scene. Andy D Quote
Kristel Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Very nice! I think you've nailed the Western look and feel with this building. Any photos of the back? I'm looking forward to seeing it in the full diorama. Quote
Maxim I Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I don't really get the point with you saying: I made it pretty simple... This is awesome! A lot of nice detailing. A very beautifull tree! And that small cabin is brilliant! The only thing that is indeed simple are the plates on the ground. But as it is a desert, it doesn't bother me Quote
Redhead1982 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Thanks, Kristel. The back is just plain wall of log bricks. I didn't even try to take photos, but I might do that by the end of the week. And the diorama will be done exhibited in mid April, so it's a while before it's finished. Very nice! I think you've nailed the Western look and feel with this building. Any photos of the back? I'm looking forward to seeing it in the full diorama. Thanks, I wanted a 'simple' look, with not many details on the building. And it was a straight forward build... I'm glad you like it despite not being 'simple'. I don't really get the point with you saying: I made it pretty simple... This is awesome! A lot of nice detailing. A very beautifull tree! And that small cabin is brilliant! Quote
streifen Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Great house! By the way, is that a toilet? the place looks hot... Quote
Redhead1982 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Yes, it is. And it's currently unoccupied. By the way, is that a toilet? Quote
paostmo Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 It looks like it could be modular. Any interior in the works? Quote
Sigolf Brimabane Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Nice ;) I love western, though I only have the old Fort Legoredo which misses some pieces, the Prairie Wagon and some Injuns meself x) And the awesome CMF bandit. Quote
jimmynick Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Nice building, Redhead1982. The tree and roof on the porch look great. The outhouse gives your MOC an excellent old-timey feeling. Quote
Ridge Montante Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Very cool building. I love the western buildings. Keep up the good work. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Thanks everyone for nice comments. My only western 'set' is the CMF Cowgirl. So this build was something that evolved as my first Western set. Nice ;) I love western, though I only have the old Fort Legoredo which misses some pieces, the Prairie Wagon and some Injuns meself x) And the awesome CMF bandit. At the moment there's no interior, and it's not planned for now. Since it was planned as a house for a larger (group) diorama, I made it empty as the interiors can't be seen on the inside. But I might change that in the future. It looks like it could be modular. Any interior in the works? Quote
Redhead1982 Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 I'm bumping the thread with an update picture of part of the layout displayed at our LUG's exhibition. Quote
Evil Porkchop Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Well done! It's nice, simplistic and not overdone. You captured the look a feel perfectly IMO. Quote
