Crownie Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 (I'm really hoping this is the appropriate forum for this.) I wanted to let people know that Wes Talbott's Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter was posted to CUUSOO today. For those of you Zelda fans who were let down by the results of this last review period, here's your chance to show both LEGO and Nintendo that the idea is still viable. I don't consider myself a 'gamer' by any means, but playing The Legend of Zelda on my neighbor's SNES growing up is still one of my favorite memories. So, for those inclined, let's move Link into LEGO! Here's the 'link' for anyone that's interested: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/32525# (Ha, see what I did there?) Quote
just2good Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Woah, I love the box design! He put a lot of effort into that alone! And, heck, the model itself is great! Link will only need two new molds, which is not too bad. Quote
-obelix- Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Fantastic looking box and poster art; model is not bad also. I agree that clearly a lot of time effort went into this. As a LoZ fan, I would gladly buy this set if it went into production by LEGO. Quote
Sir Walter Maugham Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) Wow, that really is a nice creation. I love that there is a play feature, the sliding door is great. Makes it seem like an official set. I wish there was a close up of the Iron Knuckle. (My favorite enemy from the series ) I just don't know if I want to get my hopes up with Cuusoo again. Crownie Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 I just don't know if I want to get my hopes up with Cuusoo again. I figure CUUSOO is a work in progress. As long as we're consistent in letting them know what we as a community want to see realized in LEGO, I'm sure our chances will only get better. It never hurts to try! (And after all, we have to if we want to see any of the aforementioned progress.) Quote
gundamz Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 How does this work? If this gets approved, LEGO will still need to get a license from Nintendo or whoever, right? And what happens if they cannot reach a deal? Anyways, the set looks good. At 438 and about 10 cents per piece (at least), the set will cost around $43 or so. It would be nice to have more than two minifigures. Perhaps they could add a simple generic villain knight or other Zelda enemy. Quote
Crownie Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 Correct, LEGO will still need the license - which may or may not be a problem. We weren't given the entire list of reasons to first Zelda proposal was rejected, just the main one. So the license could be an issue, but we won't know until we push forward. I'm more than happy to support ideas that I love and would purchase. Voting on cuusoo isn't exactly difficult, so it's not like I'm sacrificing anything to voice my opinion. Quote
Lyichir Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 What I love about this particular proposal is that it has playability instead of just looks. Most Zelda proposals try to evoke the look of Zelda games, which they can do okay at, but really Zelda has such a wildly-varying look that it's hard to capture it all in one model. But this model truly captures the feel of the franchise: the action-filled battles and the sense of adventure and discovery when you finally find the treasure you're looking for. While I feel an ideal Zelda proposal would perhaps feature a more iconic or significant scene (not necessarily a specific scene from one particular game, but perhaps one featuring a more significant recurring location, enemy or character), this project certainly has my support. Meatman Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 This looks like a great set! But won't it also need those expensive molds to be made? Quote
Lyichir Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 This looks like a great set! But won't it also need those expensive molds to be made? This proposal only seems to need two new molds, of which one (the shield) would be a versatile piece for other themes if printed. Contrast that with the one which failed, which for a long time consisted ONLY of a selection of new molds for weapons, etc. Quote
strangely Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Now this set definitely has a chance of getting made. Great playability and great looking minifig. Quote
moop Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I dig and voted, c'mon Lego and Nintendo. You were made for each other. Quote
Miss Kyle Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Great work on this one! I really love the minifig design and the set could be a genuine Lego set! I think it's a good idea to keep suggesting this on Cuusoo - and with this one there might be a good chance for them to reconsider it. I don't expect it to work, but I'll keep my fingers crossed :) Quote
