Danpb Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) First go building one (sans LDD). Hope you enjoy :) Edited December 28, 2012 by Danpb Quote
Andy D Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I like the style of the building. I like the windows, front and back. I like the different texture interest pieces. But it looks a little too much same color and shade, I would like a contrast color somewhere to add additional interest. I hope this helps. Andy D Quote
Danpb Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Thanks Andy D - While the idea of tearing this down to change the colors is unappealing, I think you are right in terms of too much of the same. And who I am I kidding, tearing down/rebuilding isn't all that bad ;). Thanks for the feedback! Quote
eurotrash Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I like the facade, the monochrome and I particularly like the details on the roof. I'm not sure it actually needs a breakdown at all, but if you were to add a color perhaps just changing the details and the slope bricks on the front would be sufficient. Thanks for sharing it with us! Quote
L@go Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I really like it. The amount of texture is very nice, in my opinion, but I agree that just a tiny splash of colour would be good - just adding a couple of accent stripes might be just what it needs. The interior you've made so far is great, too - what are you planning on doing with the two empty floors? Quote
Kristel Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I like the general style of this building and it has some really nice details on the facade, like the trims at the roof line. Well done. I also like your interior so far. The gas stove is clever! Do you plan to furnish the remainder? Quote
Brickington Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Nice job! However, there is to much of the same color and the overall modular is a little bland. Just some constructive criticism from an idiot! Quote
Hey Joe Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Really beautiful and way beyond my capabilities. I agree that it needs a little color. Also, since the back is set back from the base plate, you could extend the balcony out a little bit? Thanks for sharing! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Very nicely done Danpb. I really like the design of the exterior. Great job Quote
paostmo Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I like the white. I think you should stick with that. The roof and the first floor interior is nicely done. I particularly like the AC unit. I think the windows on the third floor could be tinkered with. Maybe the windows could be expanded to two bricks wide, or the gray plates could be reduced to one brick wide. Quote
King Aragorn Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I like this modular house, the oriented windows and the inner details. The white used for the whole build give a modern and minimalist touch! Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 That is a great building! The details in the facade are very good. I like your solution for the ladder on the balcony to acces the roof. The all white facade is perfect, because this type of building would be painted white. If anything the bley lines should also be white. Quote
Man with a hat Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Nice building. The style is nice and simple yet very impressive for a relatively small modular. I like the balcony at the back as well as your kitchen. Very clever use of inverted 2x4 brick there. Quote
streifen Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I thought the white building looks good! One color is ok if it is the right color! Your window technique is good. (Note to self: need to hijack idea. Note to Danpb: please allow. ) Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Very nice modular building The details on the roof are amazing: the solar panel, the chiller and the trap door I like also the the kitchen with the green and yellow carpet ...very realistic! Nice work! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Nice building for the first time. I like the window in the first floor. It looks great with the arch. The second and third floor are not so interesting, why not stick with the first floor window? At least the window in the third floor could be split into two windows. The decorations on the roof are nice and simple. The access to the roof via the back side balcony is a great idea. Well done. Quote
Andy D Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 (edited) I just noticed the roof access, very clever! Forgot to mention roof treatment... Also very nice and interesting. Overall, great building! Very clever use of clear elements for windows, I may have to use that someday. I don't think you would have to tear down too much to add some color, maybe just some of the trim, or a maybe stripe between floors. Andy D Edited December 29, 2012 by Andy D Quote
Danpb Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I will look at adding some more color, as I was primarily focused on the look of the facade during much of this build. As for plans for furniture - looking to do a living room on the 2nd floor, and bedroom on the 3rd :). Quote
gotoAndLego Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I like the all white color. I think the light bley window separators are too thick; reduce them by one plate. Maybe put two trans-clear bricks between them. Quote
jimmynick Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 This is a very nice build. I like the different yet consistent windows. However, the building looks like it is better suited to being a bank or an office than a house. Nevertheless: great work, Danpb! Quote
sonicstarlight Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I'll echo a lot of other people's comments and say that I am a fan of all the white. It's one of my favorite colors to build in, an honestly there are a lot of real world buildings that are entire monochromatic. I wouldn't add color just for the sake of it. This is a great first modular, by the way. Looking forward to seeing it completed. Quote
Faefrost Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I like it. And I kind of like that all of the contrasts are in subtle texture and architecture, not color. A little color might not be bad. But I would keep it very minimal and subtle. Quote
Danpb Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Thanks everyone. Really, really appreciate the feedback. Will update when it has furniture ;) Quote
