K-Nut Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I think Ultron was MUCH more of a threat than Loki. Ultrons plan (that was actually fleshed out, unlike Lokis) resulted in the extermination of Humans Beings, not just earth being taken over. The fact that he had the means to do it that weren't otherworldly makes him much more threatening, IMO. Quote

However, the way it was handled and portrayed on-screen lacked the kind of intensity that the first one had. He should be more threatening, but it feels as though the film itself shrugs it off and delivers some standard fare action instead. Good, but not as good as it should have been with that story. I feel like AoU and TA are opposites in a way: the story for AoU felt more organic and character-driven, but the visuals and cinematography felt choppy, gimmicky, and routine. On the other hand, while the story for Avengers was very contrived and artificial, the filming itself flows much better and is a joy to watch. I still really liked AoU, but I believe that Avengers is the better movie despite having a weaker story than its sequel. A side note: AoU's story seems to be incongruent to the rest of the MCU--it concerns itself with teasing the future, while ignoring the past, as if to say "we interrupt your regularly scheduled solo movie continuations to bring you a massive cross-over event. Because we can." Perhaps the stakes seem artificially high because we already know there will be a Cap 3 and a Thor 3, and the MCU seems like it can't wait to show us those installments, at the expense of the one we have in theaters now. The Legonater Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I feel like AoU and TA are opposites in a way: the story for AoU felt more organic and character-driven, but the visuals and cinematography felt choppy, gimmicky, and routine. I still really liked AoU, but I believe that Avengers is the better movie despite having a weaker story than its sequel. That's... actually a really good point, though I would reach the opposite conclusion. Avengers definitely was a fun fare which did the impossible and gathered a bunch of solo leads under one title. It was unique, it was fun. Everyone bounced off each other nicely, and it was a good time. AoU is a much deeper film. Most of the mains get at least some notes of character development and growth. We see a villain that represents everything our characters dread. While I, personally, enjoyed the action, there definitely was a lot of it. Perhaps enough to bog down many viewers. It might have just been my seat at the theater, but I feel while Avengers was very wide in camerawork, AoU was very closed in and focused. Maybe that was intentional, given the deeper themes. That said, I wouldn't take this to mean Avengers is better. It's probably a more fun movie over all, but I would say AoU is better for being able to take all the character work to another level while still having everyone (if not more people) feel relevant. As for AoU and it's connection to the franchise, there's definitely a lot more in this than Avengers. I think that's just a result of the fact that we're coming back several years later. There's definitely more set up, but it's also building of a lot more as well. Stark's PTSD and the Iron Legion from IM3, Cap's unease about slowing down and the haunting memories of his past from Winter Soldier, and so on all contribute to the movie as a whole. It's definitely not a stand-alone, but I'm not convinced it really needs to be. Quote

Whedon said in an interview that he has to make a direct sequel. He couldn't have assumed that everyone had seen every Marvel movie since Avengers; I know plenty of people who saw Guardians and Iron Man 3 with now Cap. Thus is why we get Easter eggs and references like the convergence and nothing huge from a standalone. Quote

Quicksilver Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Scarlet Witch everybody! Mmm... Questionable choice by the Avengers to send her to Wakanda to presumably capture Crossbones as she is the Hulk of the Avengers 2.0 squad, with destructive and Unpredictable powers. Quote

Marvel_Geek Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) Just read an article on comicbookmovie.com, that winter soldier is supposed to have a larger role after civil war. Maybe we could see him taking the mantel of Captain America after civil war. p.s. I heard that Sebastian Stan has a 8 movie contract with Marvel. :-) Edited May 22, 2015 by Marvel_Geek Quote

Oky Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I gotta say, the AoS season finale was really good. It had lots of action, plenty "holy crap" moments, and great one-liners. It concluded several plot lines nicely and even made me almost feel sorry for Ward. And man, that final scene was terrifying! Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here! And I'm very happy we'll be getting more Agent Carter as well. Quote

Quicksilver Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Bleeding Edge armour Much?https://instagram.com/p/3OirRjjpkM/ (paste and insert into search bar.) Very cool looking Armour. It'll be interesting to see Lego's design for the face mask, as it looks more triangular at the top. Possibly a new mould? Edited May 28, 2015 by Quicksilver Quote
Ultron Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Definitely very bleeding edge. Hopefully we get it as a fig. But with arm printing finally...! Quote

Well, since we got arm printing on Carnage this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they blew the budget and gave us arm Printing on the Mark 46. Also, do you think we'll get Civil War Crossbones with the helmet and punching Gauntlets as a figure? I would buy an $200 set just for him in Lego Form. i think some red paint would do Where specifically? Do you want as much Red as the Mark 45 in the end of Age Of Ultron on the 46 suit? Quote

Im a brickmaster. Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 So what do you guys think: are they going to kill Cap in civil war? I think if they did they'd bring him back "cosmically" in time for infinity war. But every thing seems to line up for it perfectly, what with Bucky back and crossbones confirmed. Quote
