Dol Guldur

I have decided to build Sauron's Mirkwood fortress of Dol Guldur. There is not that many pictures out there so I have decided to use a little artistic licence . This is the first shots of the Gate house.

This is the picture I am using ( I didn't draw it ) but you can see that I have built the front wall of the gate house.

I am placing a bricklink order for more base plates and parts. I am using all the pieces from Helms Deep and 2 Uruk Hai armies, is there any other set which may provided me with some much needed castle parts?

Off to a promising start! If you're looking for more inspiration for the project, the Hobbit movie actually has a few shots of Dol Guldur that show the fortress / castle as a whole. Perhaps your best chance to get more castle parts would be to look for Helm's Deep or Uruk Hai army sets without the minifigs on ebay.

it needs to be more jagged!

Nice start and the last post is right. A jagged appearance will be more recognisable. There will be building similarities with Mimas morgul and barad-dur.

Try using some darker grey pieces for a more menacing look but good start.

Thanks guys, remember this is only the beginning! I have ordered lots of rock from bricklink because i plan to make some rocky hills outside the gate. I have more photos and I will post them A.S.A.P. Thanks for the feedback!

I love how this MOC is shaping up. I hope we get a set of Dol Goldur before the Hobbit theme ends (besides the Gandalf polybag).

Sorry for the delay guys, I'm waiting on a bricklink order to arrive so I can build the back wall of the gate house. I have just seen the movie "The Hobbit" and I have noticed that my version of Dol Guldur is very different from the movie version, I won't change my version and I will continue basing it off the picture. You can all take it as Dol Guldur before it was ruined .
