Norro Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Announcement and pics. A real must see! God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 17, 2007 Governor Posted January 17, 2007 Isn't this a Viking MOC? Besides the use Viking mini-figures and other elements from the Viking theme, the word "Viking" is mentioned several times on the webpage. Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Muhahaha summon the kraken!! Isn't that Berry Syedow's ship?? Quote
Asuka Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Absolutely lovely! *y* Very fine details, like the ballista and the centaurs, and the ship is very beautiful and fantasylike. And the Kraken.... impressive! From Jacob Wallenberg in his book Min son p Quote
Berry Syedow Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Muhahaha summon the kraken!! Isn't that Berry Syedow's ship?? Hehe, yes, I noticed some similarities. (I wonder if he's seen my ship?) Onto the MOC: I dig the originality of the whole concept. Separately, neither of the themes (or theme element) are too original, but throw them together and a truly strange outcome can occur! Since I first saw this MOC on CC.com I have to agree with what one of the posters said: For such a large creation the result is surprisingly clean. This man really knows what he's doing. The Dwarf Stronghold is quite the menacing site. The builder did a very nice job of "chiseling" the entrances out of the rocky wall. The scattered vegetation is a nice touch, too. I'm only confused as to why the Stronghold's entrance isn't fortified from the outside. The ships: The SNOTty longboat is well constructed. It's a bit reminiscent of the other viking boat featured here recently. I like the look of the fortified viking galley quite a bit. It's clean and expertly crafted. My only gripe is that the "figurehead" seems somewhat large for the ship. (Though this MOC isn't meant to be realistic whatsoever. ;-)) Lastly, I must say that the kraken is my favorite part of this creation. It's simply beautiful. What more can a pirate fanatic ask for? :-P A masterfully done MOC. *y* Quote

I try and let the creator classify their own MOC where possible (unless I really disagree X-D ). The Lugnet post said: As this is really my first foray into anything castle/fantasy lego related... Kahgarak Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I love the sound effects and animations on that page. Great Kraken MOC! Quote
Sir Kohran Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 That's utterly spectacular in every possible way. Everything about it is so good it almost takes MoCing to a higher level. What I like most is that there's not one focus points but several - the gritty, weather-beaten mountain castle, the official-set-based ship and the Kraken itself. Brilliant. I hope to build stuff like this myself someday. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 That is pretty impressive Norro. I like the Kracken. The builder has definately captured a great battle between the creature and the Vikings. It reminds me of the scene from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 This is really beautiful. *wub* I love all the details he's put into it, and how 'clean' the creation looks overall. It reminds me very much of Keith Goldman's creations. Quote
