casewindu Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 on the 11th of january sam89 posted a picture of what seems to be yet ANOTHER harry potter castle! ok the first one was amazing (this was the one i got) with great hall and even little boat and i thought it amazing when you got the sets etc classrooms you could stick them all together to make one cool hogwarts! then the second one came out for the prisoner of askaban and quite frankly it wasn't as good. It was really the same thing just wasn't as big and it had a daft clock plus the flesh tone mini figs which i hate! (the only good thing was the dementors) now when i see this third one i think it is even worse an i dont no why anyone would want to buy it. I think that Lego have lost their imagination for harry potter and are just making new ones because they have to. if you agree or better yet disagree then please post your feelings. michael ps please no one slaughter me on this its my first new topic! thanks Quote
ApophisV Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 At least this will be a great chance for me to get a Hogwarts for Dana as a present... ;-) But honestly, those castles can easily be used to build a huger Hogwarts because Hogwarts never can be big enough ;-) Quote
simonwillems Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Couldn't agree more, let's all boycot all the upcoming Harry Potter castles! I am going in the right direction since I don't own a single one :-D I'm in for some slaughtering (HP castles that is... X-D ) only joking... Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Because they are popular. -ZotS Quote
MShiels Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 With the books/movies getting pretty 'dark/non-kids oriented' LEGO probably has to release something, so castles/core things can at least still make sense to release, without releasing tons of new stuff. Quote
SWMAN Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Two things- First, Lego wants an excuse to release new figures Second, it is an easy set idea that can be redone every time and given new figures that die-hard fans will buy to make a better overall castle. I love the movies and books, but after the second round of legos, I stopped loving the Lego sets. Quote
KMOI Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 WHY IS THIS ALL IN CAPS? Heh, only fooling with ya! :-D But honestly, those castles can easily be used to build a huger Hogwarts because Hogwarts never can be big enough ;-) I'm with Apo on this one. Hyper-Hogwarts is ultimately where they want fans and collectors alike to end up. For newer fans, it's an intro. For older ones, it's a chance to actually build their own real scale Hogwarts. Sure, it may not end up looking like some LEGO master builder's work, but it's close enough. And it's not like they've made this a secret at all! If you look on the second Hogwarts, they blatently tell you to combine the previous one with it to form a "super Hogwarts". All in all, I think it's a great move by LEGO. Afterall, there are more sets coming, so don't stomp on it until we see the entire array of sets! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 My thoughts exactly. With two castles already made, I don't think that we need a third. In fact, I was thinking that this third one might be the best one yet, but after seeing the image, I still like #2 better. Quote
BearHeart Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Well, since I dont have either of the first two castles, Im really glad that LEGO is releasing another one. I was actually wishing for another castle since they seem to release one every three years. I only recently started collecting LEGO after 10 years. Im sure there is many other people in my shoes who also dont have either of the first two castles and are excited about the release of a third one. Quote
gusmoore17 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I don't care, I am a fan of these sets and I'll be getting this one just as many of you have pointed out: because of making a bigger and better Hogwarts Castle. a) There's a part of the castle yet to be revealed, I mean, it looks cut from the pic. Also, there was a prototype in a kind of catalogue like the one in which its shown this but back to the 2004's one. The final product was completely different, in fact, the one that was showed looked like one of the alternative models of that castle. b) If I could stand the first one with that freaking piece of paper as roof and with its very very fragile structure, I can stand this one. <insert that tiresome argument> pieces have been always there. c) I totally disagree with Casewindu: the second one is far far far better than the first one, I think you can't even make a statement between the functions, colors, pieces and estructures if you don't even own your very own one. The worst thing about the second was the selection of minifigs...too common. Nevertheless, the entire set is awesome. :-D running out of money!! Quote
snefroe Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 the answer is simple: the first HP castle sold more than a million copies. HP castles are by far the best sold HP sets, so obviously, a castle set is an absolute must. Quote

Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 But think of what you could make with all 5 castles.... *wub* -ZotS Quote
Athos Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 This one actually looks pretty good to me. I like the smaller size (easier on the wallet), though I wish it was made up of more bricks and less panels. Since it is small, I'm hoping that maybe it will be modular with other additions to go with it. Steve Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I suppose they made another one because it has been three years since the last one is released, and LEGO (as far as I remember) is still a children's toy. Chances are there are alot of kids who were simply too young for the first two releases. I mean, is it any different than the 3 X-Wings or Slave 1s we've had? Fact is, when mom or dad goes shopping this christmas, a Harry Potter castle probably stands a good chance of being on junior's list. Sometimes AFOLs have to see this from a child's POV. You may already have a Harry Potter castle (or two) if it suits you, but alot of kids undoubtedly do not. Of all things Harry Potter, another castle makes more sense than anything else. Quote
Commander Xalax Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I hate the Order of The Phoenix castle!! It has a redesign of Hermione and Snape, and they look, well strange. I like the 1st and 2nd, but this one, Blah! 8- Quote
Darth Doggfather Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I thing that this will be a money maker set - big pieces, not many MFs, lots of shooting action, and everything else that littler kids like. Quote

androodeetoo Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I think it looks great and will work well with previous Hogwarts sets. Quote
