erix Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 (edited) Howdy Folks, This is a very inspiring forum, I hope I can inspire others as well! I came back to legos after 20 years with a gift from my kids, the 8048 buggy. This Midget Sprint Car MOC is from that set alone: Build sequence is here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=514439 Also on Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.com/sets/erix/sprint-car I've since got more sets, the 8051 bike being a favorite. This is a custom Bobber Hardtail: Build sequence is here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=515999 Also on Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.com/sets/erix/bobber ok, erix Edited November 12, 2012 by erix Quote
DLuders Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Welcome to Eurobricks! Your kids are nice to give you some Lego Technic. My son only gives me a hard time! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 My son only gives me a hard time! Well tell him he's a good boy as that's what I would do. Quote
Kronos Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Love the sprint car! I used to go to a dirt race track as a kid and the Sprints were always my favorite. Great job! Mike Quote
erix Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Thanks for the kind welcome! Here is a take on the Monster Garage 3-wheeler they made with a giant 6 cylinder diesel engine and little else. http://www.trombinos...erbilt1972.html No build sequence but pretty simple. Next a 60's style "digger" dragster powered by an air-cooled VW engine. Again, this one is made with only the 4048 parts: Build Sequence is located here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=516465 Last is a V8-powered version of the Sprint Car wirh big wings like a World of Outlaws style car: ok, erix Quote
Kierna Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Oh man, awesome! I love the dragster and the midget sprinter. Very cool! Quote
TimH Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hi erix. and welcome to Eurobricks. I like the midget sprinter and custom bike. Quote
Tadej Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Nice, MOCs out of a single set are very hard to make and you did a great job Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Good work but i think the cab on the dragster is falling off the end of the chassis. Quote
Tadej Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Yeah that cabin is too much to the back, it sould be in front of the rear wheels. Quote
Samanen Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Really cool models erix! I particulary like the last one Yeah that cabin is too much to the back, it sould be in front of the rear wheels. Back in the 60's and 70's they had dragsters like that (as erix mentioned in his post) Quote
erix Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Samanen, that's a cool photo. I forgot about all the wacky multi-engined contraptions those early racers thought up! Better start a new digger build, crank-driven superchargers anyone? ok, erix Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Better start a new digger build, crank-driven superchargers anyone? ok, erix ? ....... Digger yes,Super charger no. Edited November 15, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I love the midget race car. Especially the angles of the panels are ingenious. I hope your son will give you more sets so that you can make some bigger models Quote
erix Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Thanks Jeroen! That car came together over only a few days and I've always liked the way the panels tuck in right alongside the motor. Yes, I'm hoping he sees my obsessive research of the Unimog set as a sign! Alrhough I could really use those big tires and wheels right now... ok, erix Quote
Kierna Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Better start a new digger build, crank-driven superchargers anyone? Feel free to use my S/C small block design. if you have the parts I can send you the LDD file. Edited November 15, 2012 by Kierna Quote
