Karin (kvdnberg) Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 As promised in the Intro forum here's my Micropolis MOCs. I made these back in 2009 for the LowLUG meeting where we had a collaborative Micropolis layout. I found it quite addictive and hope to make more of these. I'm pretty sure I've taken them apart, which now I think is a shame but I guess an opportunity to create something new. View from the rear, showing the walking bridge The second module was a small park. Third was a set of houses and a apartment building, roughly based on an existing building in Capelle aan den IJssel. And last was a primary school, which I based on my own primary school (or at least part of that building). The school also had a little interior and a removable roof. And here's a 'map' view of all four modules together. Have a look here for the full meeting layout. Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Awesome micros, I love the way the roof comes off especially! Great job! Quote
The Dutch Guy Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Looks great there Karin. Beginning to love these microscales too. Keep building them. Quote
Kristel Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 These look fantastic. I am always amazed at the detail that can be achieved at this scale, like the trees and the seesaw. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Excellent Microscales! The way they connect is neat and the buildings themselves are excellent Quote
LegoJalex Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Looks really nice! Many great design solutions. Love how you built the trees. Quote
PsyKater Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Do you have pictures of the whole micropolis? And I think the stickered version of the cross-walks would have worked well, too. Why did you change them? Quote
Karin (kvdnberg) Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Excellent Microscales! The way they connect is neat and the buildings themselves are excellent Well, I didn't invent the standard of how these modules connect, it's based on the Micropolis standard by Twinlug But I'm glad you like it :) Do you have pictures of the whole micropolis? And I think the stickered version of the cross-walks would have worked well, too. Why did you change them? Did you mean this part? Some of those at the meeting did use those but they were hard to come by so we decided that white tiles would be fine too. TwinLUG actually had the same problem and compromise. There's some pics of the whole micropolis in the link I posted at the end of the OP, and I have a few more here Quote
PsyKater Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Wow, did not know these parts. Didn't look like stickers to me, but I thought "it must be stickers" Thanks for the link, I missed the last sentence of the OP several times. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Very nice micro Karin! Too bad they may not still exist. I look forward to seeing some new corners Quote
Blue Wren Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Fantastic build. I especially like the seesaw at the school. Quote
