Hi Train Tech,

With the the HorizonExpress round the corner, I would like to get back into trains, but I need some ideas to get started building a MOC. I had a look round Brickshelf but can't find anything to get started with.

Could anyone give me some ideas on how to get started, pictures, links etc. I already own the 2010 Cargo and City trains along with the Emerald Night. I am looking for Diesel or electric locos.

Thanks Darthluke824

Have you seen the instructions on the Railbricks site? Could give you some ideas

http://railbricks.com/instructions/

Yes! Thanks, I looked round there, some nice models but not what i'm looking for.

Railbricks is the best starting place I can imagine (grin).

There are also some nice instructions on LGauge (most are North American designs) and I THINK James Mathis had instructions for some of his models on brickshelf. Click the passenger folder, then poke through the designs.

Ah! Of course James Mathis's excellent trains! Yes I looked round there and found this: HERE. I give it a go and post the results here soon.

Thanks all,

Are you looking for someone elses MOC to copy? In that case the Railbricks link above is probably your best starting point.

If you're looking for inspiration to start your own MOC then I can recommend Railfan Europe.

Pictures of trains from all over Europe.

I can also recommend Jake McKee's book Getting started with Lego trains: Amazon link.

It's a few years old so it doesn't use all the latest pieces but it's a nice book to get you on your way.

The LGauge link is interesting and even though

The LGauge link is really interesting even though I'm not especially into Nth American trains. Thanks for posting that :classic:

Here are my diesel locos, UK Classes 08, 14, 20, 28, 35, 37, 44, 47, 50 and 66.

If you can get a copy of British Main Line Diesel Locomotives that has all the 4mm scale drawings, specs and pictures. There is a version for electric locos too.
