Kez Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 ^ your welcome, it's also a shame because I love these sets but all of the 2013 superheroes sets come on top of my to buy list first but I may be getting one or two tmnt sets :) Quote
Chri5kng Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Still don't understand why most of you AFOL hate this theme but like Chima? Quote
gundamz Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Still don't understand why most of you AFOL hate this theme but like Chima? Agreed. At least you know these figs are turtles. Chima figures look kinda like hedgehog-men (at least the ones I've seen so far). Rather peculiar... Back on topic: I am excited to see the play features of the Lair and the Shellraiser. I think the Shellraiser's convertability to a train car is awesome, though I don't think I will be getting it at that price. Also, I am not a fan of Dogpound, especially having seen the previous episode, where he came across as a mindless brute who is nowhere as cool or powerful as Shredder. . ^ your welcome, it's also a shame because I love these sets but all of the 2013 superheroes sets come on top of my to buy list first but I may be getting one or two tmnt sets :) I think the only superhero set I'll be getting is The Bat v. Tumbler and only because I liked the movie. Quote
Lyichir Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Still don't understand why most of you AFOL hate this theme but like Chima? From my perception, a lot of AFOLs like this theme. And many people who dislike this theme don't like Chima either. Of the ones that both dislike this and like Chima, the majority probably just prefer original themes to licensed ones. Personally, I fall into that category; while I have nothing against this theme, I have no intention to collect it, whereas I'm very tempted to collect Chima sets. Also, there's no need to post Chima hate in topics that aren't even about Chima. I assume you're broken up about Ninjago ending, but there are productive avenues to express a love of Ninjago without bashing its successor. Honestly, it's like the Bionicle vs. Hero Factory crowd all over again. Quote
just2good Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Someone over at Toys N Bricks has debunked the Barnes and Noble reservation prices for TMNT: 79100 Kraang Lab Escape $14.99 (wasn't expecting this one- a bit too high) 79101 Shredder's Dragon Bike $24.99 (eh...) 79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit $19.99 79103 Turtle Lair Attack $49.99 (good) 79104 The Shellraiser Street Chase $59.99 Quote
djmangunz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Toys R Us has a TMNT Lego poster up for sale. This is similar to what they did with the LOTR posters just before the sets were released. My money would be on TRU having the Turtle sets in the next week or so. About dang time too. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=17370646&prodFindSrc=search And boys and girls...NEVER preorder from B&N. You will be sorry you did. On another note, my thoughts were turning to potential summer sets as they often do. Since Leatherhead is already confirmed to be in the new show (some nice moc-up art here) http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/261/9/6/nickelodeon_tmnt__leatherhead_by_turtletitan97-d5f6s8j.jpg I was pondering how incredibly awesome he would look as a Lego megafigure. Eh? Eh? Quote
Hobbestimus Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I'll definitely be using some Chima croc pieces for Leatherhead if Lego doesn't deliver an official one, but a Hulk/Wampa sized Leatherhead would be awesome. And TRU cannot have these sets fast enough for me. Quote
CM4Sci Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) Lol, the uh.. down time deleted this, so I'ma post it again: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121017033923/lego/images/5/54/Tmnt_poster.jpg -Sci Edited December 4, 2012 by CorneliusMurdock image too large, please resize Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Apparently my post got deleted too: I noticed that the Roller Derby Girl from the CMF Series 9 has printed elbow pads...I really wish Lego would have done something like this on the Turtles: Photo credit goes to WhiteFang Edited December 4, 2012 by The_Chosen_1 Quote
just2good Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Lol, the uh.. down time deleted this, so I'ma post it again: {pic} -Sci Is that yours, Sci? Oh, and down time deleted one of my earlier posts: the Hobbit poster came out in TRU a month before the sets, so this TMNT poster doesn't indicate that the sets will be out next week. But, judging by the patterns for licensed sets, they should show up in TRU next week or the week after, anyways. Quote
djmangunz Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 So....Lego.com has the TMNT sets listed but not available for preorder yet. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/The-Shellraiser-Street-Chase-79104?ShipTo=US&_requestid=5297814 So come on TRU and please give us a day to buy them up before you jack up your prices 10 to 30%. When I saw series 9 I thought they should have used this colour for the Turtles. Photo credit also goes to WhiteFang Edited December 4, 2012 by CorneliusMurdock Removed quoted picture Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 The crash deleted my post too, so here goes. Thanks for listing the prices. I know it is Licensed, but some of those seem high. I was expecting the lowest three to be priced in lower brackets. Kraang is way too high. And I thought Shredder's bike would be where the Stealth Shell would be. I may need to rethink which sets I want to get. I may end up getting the Lair now instead of bricklinking Splinter/Leo and skip some of the other sets. And I agree, that new olive green color is amazing. I can't wait for more bricks to be in that color. Maybe a modular sometime?? Quote
just2good Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Saw this on a Toys"R"Us flyer. None of the stores near me have the sets, though. Flickr link (I live in Coral Springs, Florida by the way) Edited December 4, 2012 by just2good Quote
gundamz Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 yay! Ninja Turtles! Hopefully, they have it in stores by next week! Quote
djmangunz Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Thanks for the scan j2g. It seems like you boys in Florida get a lot of the sets first. Between that and the SEC, what else do you need? I call that the sets will be available on TRU.com by this Saturday. ... Quote
just2good Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Thanks for the scan j2g. It seems like you boys in Florida get a lot of the sets first. Florida does tends to be the first place on the East Coast to get stuff first. I'm hoping they come out Friday. I'll be checking everyday though. The TMNT sets are just too good to miss. Quote
gundamz Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I hope Amazon has them available at around the same time. Quote

AmperZand Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Is the orange part of Fishface's back and gills area (that I'm guessing is an air breathing apparatus) a separate element that can be detached or is it simply a painted part of the minifig's back and sides? Quote
DJ Bricks Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 It's moulded and part of the body, then painted. The only removable parts seem to be his arms and legs. Quote
Faefrost Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) Still don't understand why most of you AFOL hate this theme but like Chima? I think opinions on both are pretty well split. Although in the case you describe with AFOL's you have two things going on. On One level Chima is really not a theme targeted at AFOL's nor one they have any real strong opinions on either way. It has some neat parts, figs and designs that will grab the attention of some. And it's overall animal war theme may turn others off, but outside of a small group, it really isn't anything deeply argued. Many AFOL's will pick up some Chima sets and figs. But there are plenty of other new sets they will get first. Now TMNT is an entirely different situation. There is no ambivalence here. The problem is less Chima and more this interpretation of the Turtles. It's kind of taunting the AFOL's. AFOL's have no mental investment in Chima. It's something new for the younger target audience. But the Turtles! Well that strikes right at the nostalgic heart of AFOL's. but the problem is while kinda close and similar, these really aren't the AFOL's turtles. These are these newfangled retread Turtles, with a pink fish guy, and some sort of Crash Bandicoot stupid lookin guy, and a Krang that just isn't their Krang, and no Rocksteady and Bebop and... Well Shredder is still cool. So the sets are cool, and they are something that the AFOL's have wanted for years, but at the same time something is not quite right for them. On some level, and for some AFZoL's its like listening to Mozzart played very well on an untuned piano. It's great stuff, but still not right to your ear. Is that making any sense?
