I want to build a RC vehicle (done) but all I need is the wheel part now. I have tried many things but to no avail. The structure is this one:

It needs 2 wheels on top, on the side and on the bottom of the rail (pin joiners). I have had a look at these wheels but I can't find any technic thing to connect it to. The wheel must no exceed 2,5 studs and may not be more than 1 stud wide. If you find a suitable wheel then please try it out and see if it fits all around the rail. I would prefer as little play as possible.

Hey there!

this is the smallest rim & tire combo i can think of:

Good luck with your project!

Thank you, I didn't own any of the sets the tire was in so I didn't know it existed. From my calculations 14mm is just about 2 studs so I will have to make some difficult connections :/

Could you (or anybody else) try to build just one pair of wheels (where 5 or 6 wheels are needed) around the frame?

You can also put this 3139.jpg?0 tire around a half bushing.

I tried that but there was too much play and looseness on the wheels

I took a look and those pin solutions look like a lot of drag on the car.

All you need is a rim that has a dip in the middle that will act like having three small wheels supporting the rail, one such as two train wheels put front to front will have a guide in the middle for the rail.

Ok, could you show me a Bricklink link to a wheel-like part that fits perfectly around such a rail?

And if you happen to find one, then I don't think it would work that great anyhow because that it's hard plastic against hard plastic. There's either too little or too much friction to make it spin properly. I assume that wheels are better suited for this.

I have never made a roller coaster......

I don't know if this might help you in any way...

You can add a bottom wheel to one side also if need be.

But modern roller coasters use plastic wheels on metal

I can't find the train wheels now that LDD has changed, but try it , maybe you need to separate them a bit by using a 1/2 bush if that has a better curve.

if these dont work look for a car rim or inverted dome brick of some kind

It looks too bulky to fit and I don't like sliding wheels, it has got to be rolling wheels :/

No car rims has got the right size. The train wheels above seems to fit around the rail in SR 3D Builder and a 3mm Rigid Hose will keep it in place while used with 1/4 pins. I have ordered some of them as well.

The wheels do roll.....

I imagine that the long threaded thing is the rail and the big wheel is the one rolling. But, in order to work, I would need to turn it 90° to get it lying down and the 4 smaller wheels still wouldn't roll on the rail. If only it was that simple..

I've ordered some parts on BL, so in a couple of days I'll see which solution I'll choose :classic:
