Deadraque Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) After 2 years of collecting and finally starting to install the town +/- how i want it, I decided to post the pics of it and the new Haunted house that I have put on a height with a graveyard. My work isn't finished and there should be more roads coming but with time I want to remove the Lego roads and put my own road, but that's not for right now, there are still a few holes that will get filled soon... Anyway here it is! You can view all pictures on Flickr Edited September 18, 2012 by Deadraque Quote
pinioncorp Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Now that is how the Haunted House should be presented! It looks great lifted higher on a hill. The spiral stairs look great up to the side door too. Nice town all round, with interesting use of Market Street. Quote
Ballast Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 The haunted house looks so much better when it's raised like that! Quote
Andy D Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Great presentation! I really like the graveyard surrounding the HH. Haunted House on a hill, the way a HH should be. Andy D Quote
RunnersDad Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Great job with the Haunted House! Looks great raised up on the hill like that! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I agree about HH looking better elevated. It does add something to the build. Plus the foliage around the house really brings out the condemnable look to it all. Market Street is neat that you can alter the floors to face different directions, but I'm not sure how much I like the blank wall for the first two floors, especially on a corner like that. But it is definitely something different than I've seen. Keep up the good work. Quote
Kristel Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 The haunted house looks fantastic presented this way. Raising it and adding the cemetery and overgrown garden make it look eerie and haunted, like it was intended to. It deserves to be a focal point for this layout, rather than being tucked away in the corner! Quote
Deadraque Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) Thanks all for your comments :) The reason of the market street home is that in the corner you have 3 houses at once, all my modulars have moved very close to the street, i do not have the blank space between the house an the street i found that much more realistic, but that came with a new problem it made holes sometimes 14 or 12 dots... so a few things have been modified and all holes are getting MOC modulars. So there is the house of market street finding itself in the corner between the 2 houses from the petshop set. As it is a wall i added a soda can distributor and wanted eventually create a graffiti some day on part of the wall, if i choose that one, it was because of the flipping roof so it could be viewed from 2 sides, at first I also thought mhhh a bit weird but started to like it. But of course it's personal taste and also a bit of matter of space and killing the holes the best i can :) Once again thx for your comments and thoughts! And for being it in the corner is something that will stay as it doesn't fit the center of the town, but all what is around that HH still needs works as I plan to make a street in front and finish eventually also with overgrown grass over the barricades and more so it really looks abandoned or a place to stay away from, if I had 3 times as much room it would have a whole cemetery around and a mausoleum but hehe you know how lego works never enough space..... Before this setup you see now i had garages, police and so on but never liked those sets very much so moved it away and now it starts to look more the way i have in mind, like the bus station and so also need roads but those things don't work with regular lego roadplates, so need to change all roadplates with time but that is gone need alot of cash.... and that's not for tomorrow unfortunately... :( Edited September 18, 2012 by Deadraque Quote
horizon Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Cool stuff. The small archway between Town Hall & Grand Emporium is cool. Inspirational for the town my daughter wants to start.... lots to do! Quote
Rhapsodyred99 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I was trying to decide what to do with my Haunted House. I love the idea of putting it on a hill with the grave yard under it, seems perfect. I plan on doing something very like this. Thanks for the inspiration! Quote
Vindicare Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Wonderful start. I really like how you have 10190 Market Street situated. Great job with 10228 Haunted House, as well. Quote
Ferrik Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Your town looks excellent and well-detailed. I like your haunted house MOC as it looks very detailed and all the plants in the garden look great. Quote
Hey Joe Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Really looks fantastic, hope I can have something that nice someday. The train track isn't a complete circuit? I mean, you can't let a train whip around the track? Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Great work! I like how set away from the city the Haunted house is, and the landscape around it is excellent Quote

I mean, you can't let a train whip around the track? Thanks all for your replies it encourages me to make it better and bigger :) Behind me is now another table with other stuff but many work still so will be for later. To answer bjtpro. No it doesn't go round anymore. The track seems to come from the wall and end at the table end but before that it did. I can show you 2 pictures how my town evolved with time. then the train could go around, but place and many more sets that came added a lot of space loss because of the track so i removed a big part of it. This is how it began I even had a movie set... and ugly road plates :) Then things started to change, but sets kept coming and with time i think it will become a modular only city, the other table behind me will probably become beach and little town kind of theme. But as many i am not a millionaire so all you see took me over 2 years to have.... Quote
Vindicare Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 In your second picture there, what's that between GE and FB? Quote

Well, you know, if you were a millionaire and could afford to buy everything in one fell swoop it would probably get boring pretty quickly. That's a very nice collection/layout and two years isn't very long, you are lucky! Thanks for sharing. Quote
Deadraque Posted September 22, 2012 Author Posted September 22, 2012 In your second picture there, what's that between GE and FB? That's an archway as i moved all my modulars to the street, but then ended with open spots so i had an open spot of 6 dots, so made a little archway. The idea is to keep it and use it to bring deliveries from trucks to the shop at the back, and wanted to make a very small house on top of that or as i did for now put a car on it and put it behind glass so it looks like a mini showroom as a publicity for a car. tbroyd Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Looks great, slightly elevated and apart from other buildings. Also good to see how the size of the HH compares with other buildings. Has given me ideas...... Quote
