Norrington Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Well, once i saw the original PotC, all i built was forts and islands, then when DMC came out, i started building even bigger, more elaborate forts, and huge galleons, (like the HMS Sabre, wich i will post here sometime, along with my fortress, Fort Victoria). Frankly though, it has also dis-inspired me, after all, once I saw it, I'd only build one thing, so it technichly just narrowed my mocing capibilties, so I was wondering, what has it inspired you to do, or what has it discouraged you to do? Give examples of what it discoraged, and give pics of moc's it inspired. God Bless Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 *shrug* PotC inspired me to make the jump from Castle to Pirates, so I do believe I owe everything - Pirates of the Archipalego, my WIP MoCs, my participation in the EB Pirates community - to it :P Quote
Norrington Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Well, when i was younger, i LOVED pirates, but that died down for a while, and stopped. Then, i saw the first PotC, but due to the fact that it's only inspired me to do two things, I find it has dis-inspired me. Quote
Capn Frank Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 well the black pearl and the HMS suprise inspired me to build my frigate. i was going to build a mini-fig scale black pearl but it proved too large for the amount of black i thought i had. so i went with amore modern HMS Suprise style of ship instead. although i might be able to make one now that i have lots of rown from the sandcrawler and jaba's sail barge to integrate with my black and dark bley. Governor Mister Phes Posted January 2, 2007 Governor Posted January 2, 2007 Well, once i saw the original PotC, all i built was forts and islands, then when DMC came out, i started building even bigger, more elaborate forts, and huge galleons, (like the HMS Sabre, wich i will post here sometime, along with my fortress, Fort Victoria). Do you have any pictures of which you write about? One such picture at the top of the thread would be good for the discussion. Quote
Norrington Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 well, i'm trying to get pic's of fort victoira up, but i also need to take new ons because i'm redoing it into a bigger fort, and none of the island survived today, They were essentially two tan 16 by something baseplates with green plates on top, with palm trees, chestes, and crates, and o course marooned pirates, so essientally, the island jack was marooned on insipered those. Governor Mister Phes Posted January 4, 2007 Governor Posted January 4, 2007 You definitely should put a "Pirates of the Caribbean" inspired MOC at the top of your thread Mr Norrington... Quote
Scouty Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I admit POTC is what got me into the pirates line, but has in no way affect my MOCs. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 8, 2007 Governor Posted January 8, 2007 That's interesting Mr Imperial Scouts. Did you have any interest in LEGO prior to Pirates of the Caribbean, or did you have an interest in LEGO and the movie help steer you towards the Pirate theme? Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Should I also mention that the Pirates soundtracks inspire me to greater feats of building/writing? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 10, 2007 Governor Posted January 10, 2007 Like your latest story Spanish Privateer Alcatani? Quote
Scouty Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Yes, it's odd. My mocs are in no what inspired to look somewhat or relative to POTC sets. My fort and MOC ship are completely by my imagination. Which is odd, because I wtch and love both POTC movies, and even play cariations of music from POTC1 in my orcheastra. Prior to watching the movies, I had no interest in pirates. I may have been, I don't remeber, interested in the line when I was younger cause I actually have a ship(The Cross Bone Clipper, if that's what it's called, a.k.a. the green hulled ship.) But, when I watched POTC2, I became really interested in the line. You could say that POTC was the blackpowder of my musket(me) and started my interest in the Pirates Line. Now, I nearly have all the first realeased sets. Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 To answer your question: Nothin'. It wasn't POTC what inspired me to start Pirates again.... It was LEGOland Denmark... I never got a BSB until I went to LEGOland Denmark, where I bought the BSB... So thanks to the BSB I'm a member here X-D POTC may have slightly inspired me to build a ship from POTC, but I never did that. It was just a ship which was supposed to be a two deck pirate ship with luxury cabins. But after the lowest deck was finished I started to build the two big cabins X-D That wasn't going to work so I scrapped one of them and build the HMS Unpredictable... Okay, I was a very little bit inspired by POTC for building a ship.... But mainly by my love for LEGO Pirates, Master and Commander, books etc.. Don't get me wrong, I do like POTC a lot! Quote
Norrington Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 Should I also mention that the Pirates soundtracks inspire me to greater feats of building/writing? I should mention now that we have something in common. I also listen to it whle i sleep, becaus it actully is pretty relaxng, though some people find it aggrovatng. While I'm building, I listen to both POTC soundtracks, and occasionally a cd titled "Best of Mozart". love my classical/orchestrated music X-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 11, 2007 Governor Posted January 11, 2007 Norrington you still have posted any examples yet! Quote
Norrington Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 I'm trying. I'm very busy, a friend of my mothers that i knew has just died so i'm very busy at the moment. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 15, 2007 Governor Posted January 15, 2007 Very well then... As you were... I send my condolences. Quote
