Governor Mister Phes Posted December 26, 2006 Governor Posted December 26, 2006 Greetings laddies! A while back I won the above jumper/sweater off eBay but as I didn't like the quality of images my digital camera of that time produced I decided to refrain from taking any pictures of it. That has changed however! Today I went and bought a Canon EOS 400D (aka Rebel XTi in Northern America) so to test it out I decided to take pictures of the jumper. So far I've only read the first 35 pages of the 170 page manual but that was enough to get the camera up and running ready to take a few images using the automatic and default settings. As yet I have no idea how to use custom settings but there's so many of them its going to take me over 6 months to learn them all. So because of this the images aren't s good as they could be if I knew what I was doing, but they're not too bad. I'm also not using a tripod and the lighting inside is rather dim. Modeling this wonderful garment for us is Mr Thing. All small images are clickable thumbnail links to larger images When I first saw this jumper/sweater on eBay I thought it must have been something a granny knitted, but it appears its 100% official - unless someone has gone to great lengths to make it look authentic. But why would anyone bother? The official LEGO Logo on the back... But what I don't get is if this IS an official garment, why is the text "Cap'n Roger" on the front when the mini-figure depicted looks more like Captain Ironhook? Hmmmmm? :-/ Quote
Scouty Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Because Capt'n Ironhook wont fit across the sweater? Cool. That's a neet sweater ya got there. I noticed you couldn't help but take pictures of yourself :-P :-P . Nice find, and good to hear that you finally got your new Digital Camera!!! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 26, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 26, 2006 Yes, its miraculous how I took pictures of myself while becoming 20 years younger... |-/ Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 26, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 26, 2006 That a very good camera Mr. Phes. Congratulations! I'm planning to buy a new camera myself and the Canon EOS 400D is still on my list, but maybe its a bit expensive for an amateur like me. EDIT: Just imagine how much Lego you could buy for the price of the camera :-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 26, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 26, 2006 Actually, the week before Christmas I paid all the eBay sellers I was indebted to and there's about A$300/US$230/172 Quote
Evil Willy Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Wow Mr. Phes! The quality of your new camera is just amazing! And that sure looks very nice too! And of good quality. Thanks for sharing this. Quote
oo7 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Heh heh. Jumper. Here in the states a jumper looks like this. And a macintosh looks like this. So.....Mr. Thing....that's your nephew who has that 4+ Redbeard ship? I think the name doesn't match the character because the most people don't care about an old limitedly sold cartoon based on the ABS plastic figures in children's toy kits. BTW, Congratulations on the new camera! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 27, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 27, 2006 Heh heh. Jumper. Here in the states a jumper looks like this. Is this your Sunday Best outfit Mr Oo7? X-D So.....Mr. Thing....that's your nephew who has that 4+ Redbeard ship? That is correct. BTW, Congratulations on the new camera! Why thank you Mr Oo7. This will enable to make a very high quality MOC presentations, hence why I've postponed my MOCing until now. Quote
Scouty Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Yes, its miraculous how I took pictures of myself while becoming 20 years younger... |-/ Hence the :-P . Your camera appears very very good! Congrats on getting it! Quote
oo7 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Is this your Sunday Best outfit Mr Oo7? X-D No, but why do ask? It's OK if you like it, I'll be glad to make some arrangements to get you one, just PM me. And I don't attend church so I don't know why I'd need a 'Sunday Best outfit' in the first place..... That is correct. Heh heh. Does Mr. Thing fancy the sweater (jumper) and was he willing to endure his private photo shoot? Does he now acknowledge and appreciate the fact that his face is posted on the World Wide Web? Why thank you Mr Oo7. This will enable to make a very high quality MOC presentations, hence why I've postponed my MOCing until now. Well well, I look forward to seeing some more MOCs from The Great Mister Phes, are they centered around those islanders who don't get enough attention? If so have you PMed and E-mailed Brick Miner yet? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 28, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 28, 2006 No, but why do ask? It's OK if you like it, I'll be glad to make some arrangements to get you one, just PM me. How could I refuse an offer like that? And I don't attend church so I don't know why I'd need a 'Sunday Best outfit' in the first place..... You just like wearing.... Does there need to be any other reason? Heh heh. Does Mr. Thing fancy the sweater (jumper) and was he willing to endure his private photo shoot? Does he now acknowledge and appreciate the fact that his face is posted on the World Wide Web? No, but that's only because he doesn't know what the pictures are used for. However he should be truly honoured that he was selected. Well well, I look forward to seeing some more MOCs from The Great Mister Phes, are they centered around those islanders who don't get enough attention? There are some Islander MOCs on the horizon but it appears I've come down with something so my motivation is a bit hindered at the moment. :-X Quote
oo7 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 How could I refuse an offer like that? Oh good. Just PM your request; size, color etc. You just like wearing.... Does there need to be any other reason? Yes. No, but that's only because he doesn't know what the pictures are used for. However he should be truly honoured that he was selected. 'No' he wasn't willing, 'No' he doesn't acknowlege, or 'No' he doesn't appreciate? Here in the states people are not 'honoured to he selected' but 'honored to be selected'. X-D There are some Islander MOCs on the horizon but it appears I've come down with something so my motivation is a bit hindered at the moment. :-X Egad! Mr. Phes has got the plaque too? Does it be a red one er a yeller one? I'ze been conjested like hell ever since de Noel! Me left eye gets all watery too. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 29, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 29, 2006 Actually its a very repulsive brown plague... Here's an overly large image to take our minds off it... Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Actually its a very repulsive brown plague... Right!Well, Mr Phes, isn't Australia too hot for sweaters?? Quote
Norrington Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 So, MR.Phes, now that you have a camera, can we expect pictorial reveiws of all the sets that you own now, or will the Royal Navy have to be deployed to engage you? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 2, 2007 Author Governor Posted January 2, 2007 Yes, I'm planning to do some pictorial reviews in the near future, however since Brickster has reviewed the Caribbean Clipper I'm going to feature that first. I've been itching to do a Pirates Perilous Pitfall Pictorial Review (that would be good to say really fast over and over) so that'll probably be something I'll do later this month. Well, Mr Phes, isn't Australia too hot for sweaters?? Don't fall into the trap of believing that ALL of Australia is hot ALL the time... Where I live it gets quite cold in winter, as low as zero degrees celcius or sometimes lower. Obviously not freezing like some places but cold enough to feel it, or cold enough to want to wear a jumper/sweater. In fact, where I live the average maximum temperature last week was around 15 Quote
Scouty Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Is "Pirates Perilous Pitfall" a set? I've never heard of it. I do look forward to seeing Pictorials in the future :capn: ! I would like to visit Australia one day 8-| . Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Niiice! Stylin shirt! I approve :) Quote

Norrington Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I think it was the last big pirate set. ever. Quote
Scouty Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I"ve never heard of that peculiar name. But, perhaps you are talking of Skull Island? I'm sorry if this "annoys you". Quote
Scouty Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Yeah, never saw that. Well, maybe once, but never noticed it that well. Thank you for getting the picture Governor Broadside. Quote
